Night Vision Any input on Flir pts 536 thermal

just sent you a PM

I like the 536 for 90 yards plus. It has a narrow FOV and a fairly high optical mag for a thermal. That can be good or bad depending on how you hunt. We hunt a lot near the Brazos and often times we are shooting them in fields and pastures. The 536 is a great scope for that. If you are mostly hunting heavy brush or hill country you'd probably want something with a wider FOV and less mag. Overall it is a very easy to use and straight forward thermal optic.

We run 4 of them on our predator team and they’ve held up pretty well. Couple small issues but overall a good thermal for the money. Easy to use. Add on battery packs work well and obviously the onboard recording is nice.

They perform very well for the price range they are in. I have looked through a lot of thermal optics lately and these new boson cores make a huge difference in the appearance to the eye. I feel like it makes a 336 look just as good as a 640. The only negative is the field of view is smaller than the 640 units. But for identifying possible targets at a distance this can sometimes be a good thing. Donkeys around 80 yd, rabbit 25 yd. White hot obviously. Sorry don't have any longer range pics stored on this computer.

as an update to this thread.... we have seen a fair amount of issues lately with the 536 and 736. everything from freezing/strange lines in the display to physically cracked output window screen. these have been on low recoiling 6mm stuff.

to top it off repair time turn around has been crazy long....as in months

just an fyi

Just a FYI, anyone who purchases from TNVC and finds themselves with a slow turnaround or lack of coms with FLRI CS, email or PM me here. We have some good inside contacts to run interference if need be. Also, forgot to post this chart that shows a good FOV comparisons of the PTS line.

536 Freezing a lot not worth they still did not fix issues. They are so backed up You will wait up to 6 months turn around time.
Thermal Units you want is Halo LR or Hunter Trijicon 60mm. If you want best.
I have Halo LR taking Coyote at 300+ yards no problem at all.
