I've got a farm here in North east Texas, and I'm renting a dozer for clearing brush. The thought occurred to me that I might build some berms where I personally shoot. Probably at 1k, 1.5k, and 2k. This would be a steel range.

Don't know about the insurance, or how to make it a club???
If there is interest, I probably will just host shoots on certain days of the month.

Just let me know if you're interested, so I'll know if I should invest the money.

    Thanks guys!

uhhhh... YEAH!!!!... I'm about an hour and a half, two hours from Paris...

providing ammo is available, I'd be all over this... but I stick to the small stuff... 308,243,6.5, etc, etc... so don't go much past 1000yds...

I can think of 4-5 guys here in OK, that would make a 2hr drive once a month or so

I'd definitely be interested. You'd have more people than you think that'd come out.

Check out the BS that's happened to Adam @ NorthEastTexasTactical.com though. Poor guy has caught a ton of shit over his range.

I'm down and know how to run a shovel

I would be interested and know a few others that would also be interested. Just PM the details and the location. Driving is not an issue for quality range time.

I would be interested.. Me and a couple friends shoot .338 Lapua Magnums at Tac Pro about once a month. We have been shooting at 1000 yards for about a year and have been looking for a place to shoot farther.. I am in Fort Worth and don't mind helping... I can do lite metal fabrication and get custom AR500 targets at a reasonable price.

I'm in the Grapevine area. I would love to shoot out to 1k. I can only get out to 800 on the dear lease.

So far I am trying to teach myself everything about LR shooting so it would be great to have the opportunity to shoot with others and learn the ropes. A spotter would come in handy!

As far as making it a club, if I was you, I would call several other rifle clubs and see what you can do. My rifle club had the land donated (100 year lease for $1) to them by Hodgdon powder. With the membership money you can continue to improve and maintain berms and such without killing your wallet personally.

    Thanks for the interest!
I'm working on this project right now. It may take me a bit to get to where I feel it's ready for a group of shooters. I'm also thinking of building a metal cover to shoot in not so favorable weather.

I'll keep everyone up to date on my progress. Oh, and this range will NOT be expensive. I haven't figured the financial part out, but it will be resonable.

    Thanks again,
    Phillip

I'd like to say I'd be in for some of that as well. Although, I live near Huntsville and that's probably about a 4 hour drive. But, I have looked and asked around here and have trouble coming up with places to shoot even out to 1k. Have a 400m berm on my property and a private range locally that is 600. So, I'd love be able to get out to 1k or a mile+, but not sure how often I'd make a 4 hour drive, tbh.

I'm a newly retired Operation Engineer if you need someone in the seat or some help with the drainage/irrigation drop me a line.
I'll be in Jasper for the Wounded Warrior Ride May 18th, I can give you a week before I head off to Blade Show in Atlanta, Ga.

I am a fairly recent transplant to the DFW area and would definitely be interested. Been out of the long range game for a bit, but starting to get serious again. Keep us posted.

Would definitely be in. Already drive to Top Gun so you are not that much further up the road.

I am close enough to help with manual labor if given a heads up notice when you might need an extra hand.

I'm most definitely interested. Live in Louisiana but have a small place in east TX (Rusk), from which the drive wouldn't be bad. Haven't been able to shoot past 600 yards (.260 Ackley).

Phillip, definitely interested! I'm a couple hours North of you in Tulsa but a trip once a month or so would be sick!

I'm just getting out the military so I'd definitely like to keep my long range stuff on par (although I'd just be lobbing 175's at 1.5k)

Also if you need any help on weekends or something, or need a big truck let me know, I'd be glad to make the drive and come give a hand.

I would definitely be interested. 500 is about as far I can go locally. My smith is taking my buddy and I to Tac Pro. It would be about the same distance for me to Paris. Just build a 260 and would like to find a convenient place to shoot at 1k or more. Already putting funds away to build a 338 Edge for longer distances.
