Hunting & Fishing Any Large Mouth fishing in Eastern S.D?

I would imagine it’s probably a little on the cold side up there for largemouths. Maybe smallies or some of the other northern species though.

Ill have to wait a few months yet, but being down in TX for work right now got me thinking about bass. Ive heard rumors about some small lakes that are stocked by the Game Dept. and thought maybe someone here would give some details up.

Ive been across the bridge a couple times, and I've never saw less than 20 boats. Someday Ill come down with the wife and boys, not for work, then Ill have time to do all the fun stuff around ?

I imagine there are plenty of large mouth in SD once you ask around with the locals. As you probably know, the size of them directly correlates to the latitude. I live in central Minnesota and was a die-hard large mouth fisherman back 25 years ago. I've got a 6 lb. 9 oz. on the wall which was considered "bass of a lifetime" for this latitude, at least back then. So..... you're not gonna catch any big hogs up here but I probably boated over a thousand decent fish over the course of four or five years. At that time our state record was 8 lb. 12.75 oz. for perspective. You can catch 2-4 ponders up here all day long, especially in the first hot weather in June in 2-4 ft. of water in reeds or pads. Fun stuff!

There is one dam here that I fish a couple times a year and Ive pulled a few 2 pounders out of, but not anything bigger. Have you ever been on lake Cochraine over by Gary S.D?
