I received my orders to Homestead AFB and was wondering if there were any shooters in the area, and if what kind of ranges are around there for long range shooting.

As you might already know by now there are no official long ranges unless it is aprivate club in the South Florida area but here is a list that might be able to help you out

There are a lot more as you go up state but as I mentioned before, none of these are really long ranges.
Trail Glades in Dade County & Markham Park in Broward County are up to 100 Yds only.
I'm sure once you get settled at HAFB there might be someone in there probably knows of a place or two around the base where you can shoot more than 100 Yds.
I often go to Trail Glades and every now and then I take almost a 2 hour trip to a friend's leased property 5500 acres to be exact in order to spend some time with my Remi 700.

found this thread a little late but there's a 1000 yard range called "MANATEE" about 3 1/2 hours NW before Tampa that will allow non members to shoot for $20 and another called Malabar gun club with a 600yd range about 3 hrs north on I-95 before Orlando but I believe you have to be a member to shoot there
