Here's my criteria:
Low Magnification no larger than 6x (Pref 3x or 4x)
High Magnification no smaller than 12x
Second Focal Plane Only (Not sold on FFP)
Matching Reticles. MilMil/ or MOA/MOA
Reticle: Mildot/MOAdot or similar style
Side Focus Required
Under $1000

I currently own a Nikon 4-16x42SF Monarch mildot/MOA

I'd like to upgrade. The Nikon is great glass but there are few reasons id like to upgrade.

1) Matching Reticle to Adjustments
2) Eye relief changes way too much from low to high mag.
3) Very hard to get a full sight picture above 8x mag. The "eye zone" or "non critical eye relief" isnt as good as I would like.

Here are the 2 scopes I found in my criteria
1) Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 Mil/Mil: $699
2) Sightron SIII 6-24x50 Mil/Mil: $845

Any more you would suggest?

Re: Any more scopes fit my criteria?

Those two look good. I own a PST and find it to be a very high quality scope for the money. In that price range, you could have bought an SWFA with the rebate. But the rebate is over now, I believe. Look into the Bushnell elite's as well. However, I think you would be very happy with the PST.

Re: Any more scopes fit my criteria?

I have the Vortex Viper PST in 6-24x50 and it is a very good scope for the money. They have it available in both FFP and SFP versions. It has very high quality glass. I compared it with my Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14X50 and the PST has better glass at the same magnifications. The only thing that was weak on the PST was the illumination which has 11 settings but only the two highest are visible in sunlight. I think it is set up for night vision equipment (which I don't have).

Re: Any more scopes fit my criteria?

Yeah i looked at the Bushness Elites but I couldnt find any that were Matching Reticles and NOT FFP.

Yeah The PST may be the best options.

Any other suggestions out there in my criteria range?

Re: Any more scopes fit my criteria?

If you really think about, what is the use of the matching reticle/turrets on a SFP scope?

They only match on one power.

Is it nice to have?
Sure.
Does it really matter? not so much.

It does come in handy on the range, but if you use targets with grids on them, you don't need the feature anyway.

I AM a big proponent of matching reticles and turrets. I am also a big proponent of FFP.

When I decided to give FFP a chance, I went with the Falcon Menace 4-14X. It got generally good reviews, has an excellent reticle and is reasonably priced.

It sold me on the concept, it is different and I still own some SFP scopes.
If i had the money, all of my SFP scopes would be replaced with FFP ones.
