I have been taking a look at the howa tactical package deal rifles. They sound and look like good rifles for the price but I just want to make sure that there would be no problems.
Great rifle! They are made in Japan and are the twin of the Weatherby Vanguard sans a few minor cosmetics. The actions are very solid, triggers are adjustable and every one I've owned easily shot sub MOA with handloads. They are quite popular in Europe and other overseas countries. The only gripe I have is that the hunting rifles are on the heavy side for walking in the woods with all day, unless you get the compact/20" variety.
They're excellent rifles, don't bother with the axiom or blackhawk stocks though if that's what you're talking about, there are a lot better things around.
I'd hate to think how cheap a Howa is in the US given that a barreled action is under $600 here in Australia.
I've got a 6BR built on an unmodified factory Howa action and it shoots like a laser. I just wish they made them in left handed.
The howa rifle I have been looking at is the entry package deal from sniper central. $1105 for the 26 inch barreled action, a b&c stock, harris bipod, and a 10x40 bushnell tactical scope
I've got one of Mel's Howa package deals. ~ 750 rounds through it. Shoots ~3/4 moa with GMM, I've shot a few sub-half moa 5 round groups with hand loads. It has a 5-20 SS on it now. I've enjoyed it thoroughly, Howa is good to go.
