Any Platypuss owners out there.

Been eyeing them, especially since the gen2 came out. What else do you have and how does it compare? Only high end 1911 I have is a Les Baer FYI.

Hello,

Just recently purchased a Platypus, and this thing is amazing. Just seeing if anyone else was out there and or running one.
Yes, we have one in our rental fleet.

I currently think the Platypus is the lowest end 2011 that I would consider owning. It has been shot quite a bit, 16k rounds last year and it did not have a mechanical failure. I have not shot the newer iteration of the pistol. Like all 2011s it has been our experience that they like to run wet and as long as we use a needle oil on the contact points we have not had issues with reliability. Again like the other 2011s they need to be broken down and cleaned with a higher frequency than most of the other pistols in our rental fleet.

Loving mine so far.

They have a much smarter feed geometry than similar guns. If you want to use Glock mags in 2011s they have the best feedway and while they may not be the prettiest mechanically they're very sound, and are a good company to deal with.

I purchased the Commander size version that they call the "New Features". I found one local sitting in a store. I had messed with many staccato's and was about to purchase one, until I put this in hand. To me, it just felt more solid or a gun and I liked the grip the best as well. Since I had 200+ glock mags laying around this one went home with me. I have decided on the 507 comp green from holosun for it. I love the fact that they are directly mounted to the frame. Also nice to throw a couple plus 5/6 enchancers on a glock mag and or a 33 rounder.

I have one, having waited to the bull barrel and gripper grip option to be released before ordering it. I got a regular and a threaded barrel.

I love my 2011s--and most have extra grip reduction and stippling, but the Platty's grip feel is very good.

If you’ve already got a bunch of Glock mags, the Platypus is definitely worth checking out. I’ve got a ton of 2011 and Glock mags myself, but the only thing that’s kept me from picking one up is the aluminum grip and the fact that there’s no option for a thumb rest. I went with the Springfield Prodigy.
