Wow.... I was looking at one with the FFP with no idea they'd every offer it in SFP. What's the latest status Doug? I'd want mine with the MOAR reticle.
I know that this is a very good question and although I originally bristled when I read your post and I almost starting talking about how I have been shooting over 50 years bla bla bla....
The real truth is that I'm so used to SFP scopes and at my ripe old age don't really want change things. I'm primarily a hunter but have literally spent hundreds and hundreds of days at rifle ranges (possibly thousands) as well and not once have I ever been dissatisfied with a SFP scope at any power or in any situation.
I've always seen the FFP reticle as a solution without a problem. I don't want to have any problems seeing my reticle in low light at low power in a situation where a quick snap shot might be necessary. I don't care that my reticle crosshairs and hashmarks are seemingly big at long range and at high power. I'm used to it.
BUT!!! Have I ever owned a FFP scope? NOPE! So am I ignorant? Yep!
I've looked through a couple of them and was underwhelmed but real world use at the range or in the field hunting I might change my mind.
So... That's about the best explanation I can give you. If you want to convince me that FFP is the way to go have at it. I'm all ears and always willing to learn. One caveat. I have several rifles and scopes and if you change my mind about FFP vs SFP then you can probably look for my girlfriend to hunt you down and try to make you pay for all the money I spend buying a bunch of new FFP scopes... LOL
