Trying to find some shooters in the Atlanta/Athens area to shoot with.

I'm new to the Charleston area. I'm looking for a place to shoot with a a range/property over 150 yards. There is a range not far from me, but there is also a waiting list to become a member.

I work in the ATL but do my shooting west of Atlanta. I'm a member to a 200 yard range in Waco GA but have 1000 personal place we use a few times a year in Douglasville/Paulding county.

your lucky to have some land where you can shoot 1000 yds. My son-in-law has 65 acres in west GA. I have 4 acres but there are other homes around the edges. I have been several times to Gun Site Hills where you can shoot 725 yds. It is east of Athens just a bit. A pretty good site but it is on private land and you have to make an appointment to shoot. There is also a new range in Sparta GA, Southern Oaks. As I understand it is membership based and has new and growing lanes. Currently 900 yds. with out to 1400 coming soon. Surely in a city the size of Atlanta there are more LRP shooters on this site????

I just joined Elbert County Gun Club in Elberton GA. No waiting list or initiation fee. If you're into skeet or trap, they're set up great. I joined for the rifle range. Rifle range goes out to 400 yards but they hold monthly, members-only 600 & 1,000 yard matches off-site at Gun Site Hills. They also have pistol ranges. The downside is that they strongly prefer that you don't shoot the deer that wander the property as though they own the place.
