The range was closed today when the cows got out. I decided to check out the far berm in person, this one:
Here's what's going on. There's an full sized IPSC steel up on the berm and the big white blotch down low is a large piece of steel approx. 7' wide and 3.5' high. I don't have the elevation in any current setup but this is giving me something else to start thinking about gear in the future
And the range is 3343 yards from the benches. I didn't trust the reading on my Impact but turns out it was ranging spot on.

I have only shot out to 1,000 there, and only once, but it’s on my way home depending on the route so I look forward to setting up a new project that will at least get to a mile.
Wow its deceptive from the benches. It is to the left of the action bays it looks like and right near the “clubhouse”
That's pretty accurate. To get to the berm take Naffi road to the clubhouse and keep going straight. Down the road maybe 200 yards is a few derelict buildings and a bunch of junk, then the 360 bay is back there. There's a gate beyond the 360 bay and the berm is about a 100 yards out in a field. If your ever going to shoot out there I'd drive out to the field and check it out and make sure it's free of cows and I'd probably leave a sign at the access gate that says the range is hot.
I just checked with John and who operates the range. He told me the elevated shooting spot for two mile is being renovated but will be open soon. Check their website for contact info, he is happy to answer any questions.

as of this month you can see the 2 mile berm and shoot it from the right side of the range in prone or from a bench, they just cleaned it out and the 1 mile berm and targets are in good shape also.
John just told me cows are around that target and the 2 mile gong is off limits. Talk to him in the office to clarify things.
the cow situation varies day to day. I shoot there 2x a month and it usually is not a problem up to 1300 yards and at a mile. i don't shoot the 2 mile so i can't comment on that. Usually if the cows get in we just chase them off. Works well except for this one big black bull. I will be there on Thursday if anyone wants updates.

Yea; the two mile target has to have the cows removed before it’s open. It is a separate area from the 1 mile range. The farmer charges $5000 per cow shot so it’s kinda a big deal to take pot shots at the two mile target without clearing the field.the cow situation varies day to day. does 5k include processing? Anyway thanks for the updates. Perhaps there are some local people into cutting and sorting riding that you could have the cows moved and sorted in a morning off the range and have the LR open once a week. People will even sometimes pay for 'fresh cows' to train the horses on.

Just so we’re clear, not everyone who shoots at two miles is taking “pot shots.” There are many accomplished shooters that are seriously engaging these targets.
I recall just earlier this year someone disparaging people that shoot at a mile, saying, “they’re just flinging bullets out there anyway.” This shows lack of knowledge and close mindedness.
That comment was aimed at people trying to hit the closed two mile target not shooting from the elevated shipping containers. If you have a clear shot talk to John at the office and he will clear the cows out of the way.

True stuff. There are numerous ELR shooters there that take ELR quite seriously

Yea, I finally went on gunbroker and found 415M primers for a buck a piece. I have the 308 or a bolt action 22 for cheap shooting

So besides myself, how many members have rigs set up to engage that back berm(I believe it’s 3350yds)? If there are enough of us, I’m sure it would be easier for John to coordinate. It will require some time to get cameras and hit indicators up.
They have started the 2500, but the amount of rain in this area has been outrageous, making progress slow.
Just wondering if anybody has heard of Praetorian group international in cocoa florida they are supposed to have long range shoots once a month. any info on this place
