Thinking about buying an EAA 10mm to hunt with, I've used revolvers and single shot pistols in the past, but haven't taken a deer with an autoloader yet. I'm wondering about the grip size on these pistols, as I find the Glock 21 grip to be slightly larger than is comfortable for me. Specific model I'm looking at is the Match Pro. Thank you.

If the grip size is an issue for you, I'd suggest looking at the SIG P220 Elite in 10mm.
It's a single stack 10mm built like a tank and fits very well in the hand.

In my case it fits a lot better than the other double stack 10mm models that I have tried.

I like the looks of that Sig for sure, I'll have to look around & see if I can find one to actually get my mitts on. I'm guessing it's an accurate enough gun for whitetail?

The one I have (Elite special edition DA/SA) has excellent accuracy. It is not a "Match target" gun but will put up very respectable groups, and will accurately hit things at a distance. With careful aim you would not have a problem hitting a deer where you want to at 100 yards.

The other nice thing about that model is that if you want to run the really hot ammo such as the Underwood max loads, it shoots them flawlessly and still feels good in the hand. It is a heavy metal pistol so that helps.

There is a huge difference in 10mm loads. Quite a lot of average store target loads are not much more than slightly hotter .40 S&W, however you move up to the top pressure hunting/defensive/penetration loads from Underwood Ammo or Buffalo Bore and you'll want a bit of heft in your pistol as they have impressive energy delivery.

I don't have the .45 ACP version to compare it against. I would say it's similar to a 1911 with thin grips.
I can measure the grip dimensions if you wish.

I have a small grip and it fits me very well.

    Go to 10mm firearms .com
Lots of discussion on what you are wanting and may help assist that decision.
BTW, have you held the g20sf? That may fit your hand. The witness is a solid choice. That said, the Springfield TRP is a top choice in the 1911 format. As is Dan Wesson bruin.

BTW, I have taken one deer with a Colt Delta Elite at about 30 yards or so. Clean kill with a Sierra 180gr jhp @about 1300fps. Back when I actually shot more, I could regularly hit a pie plate at 100 yards with the Colt and my Bren Ten. Point being, the pistols and rounds are accurate and potent.

I have an EAA Witness steel large frame .45, and I can order a 10mm conversion slide, so it's the same frame for both. Very accurate gun and with the steel frame recoil isn't bad at all (in .45).

I could be mistaken, but I thought the Match Pro was part Polymer, so recoil could be a little more noticeable.

Good gun for the price IMO.

From what I can find they use the same frame, I'm going to swing by my Dad's today and check his out.
The only Glock 10mm that I've got my hands on was an old Gen 2 G20. Yes the P Match Pro has a polymer frame, now I'm looking at the Stock III too. From what I can gather the EAA's that I'm looking at all use a common frame across all calibers so it looks like the grip would be identical from 9mm to .45 ACP. I'll check out that 10mm firearms site too, thanks.

Can't comment on that particular pistol from experience, but if the grip is large, try a single stack 10mm like a 1911. I have a Kimber Eclipse in 10mm which I have taken deer with, 20-30 yard range. Results have been great. A couple winters from now I plan on acquiring Caspian parts to build a 10mm longslide specifically for hunting.

^^^ This is what I am doing presently. I can't get a 6" TRP in Kommiefornia, so next best thing is to build. Using the new Lone Wolf glock large frame lower (advertised as similar size, better grip angle of g17) lower and a custom Glockmeister g40 slide with rmr and KKM 6" barrel.

It looks like it's the same grip shape/style as the steel frame versions. I used to have a Tanfoglio Elite in 10mm. These are based around the CZ75 frame and is probably one of the most comfortable grips I've ever shot. I loved my Tanfoglio, it was such a good looking piece. I just cut back on all my calibers a few years ago so the 10mm was sold.

The frame of the Match Pro your talking about looks nearly identical to the steel frame ones. I'm sure it's much lighter being polymer, but should fit your hand much better than a G20/G21 frame. I never cared for the fatter large frame glocks either. All my Glocks are now 40S&W small frame versions. If you have a chance to handle a CZ75 or similar that will give you a feel for the grip.

You wont be disappointed with the Tanfoglio, every one I've ever had has been great. If I hadn't gone all Glock for the most part I would still have mine. Had the 10mm and one in 38 Super. Both were amazing pistols but both were steel frame.

Thanks for your insight, I ordered one of the Match Pros the other day. If I like it, I may end up with a Hunter, or Stock III down the road. Although the Match Pro will probably kill a deer just as dead.
