I have just got a 2003 but fired very little FN 308. The factory target is .45

I tried some loads today that have always done really well in my 10FP

Lapua Brass
155 GR Scenar
GMM primer
H4895
2.810

I did 44 gr up to 46 gr in .5 increments to start. None of them did well. I really wanted to use the 155 Scenars. Is anybody having success with these? Any tips?

if you can get your hands on any, try 45.5 grains of Varget. It's always worked well for me

with my rifle (long-ass throat remington) I have to load out to 3.0" to get close to the lands. Delivers .5-.75 MOA. If I magazine length load them then it turns into 1-1.5 MOA.

I tried some Varget and some more with 4895 loaded out a little 2.9 or so. Still all over the place. Some Sierra 168s I loaded and Federal GMM 168s shot great. Is there a rational explanation for this or is this "every barrel is different" territory?

My FN/SPR A5G(had the a3g treatment)loves the heaver rounds, 168gr.,175gr. with Varget & RE-15
42.7 Varget or 42.6 RE-15 with M210primers ,and a 168gr. A-MAX on top.
.4 and under @ 100yrds.(2,600fps.)
Had no luck with the 155gr. but, didn't pursuit it far.

Good Luck

I am going to have to try some scenars one of these days. I just now tried shooting 155gr Sierra Palma and Varget in my spr.

These were shot "round robin" style with a 2.772" OAL. The barrel had 30 rounds fired before these 15 shots were fired, so it was fouled. The ES were good with all loads but the 46.4 load. I'll give a couple of load another try.

Velocites were:

46.1 2804 2802 2796

46.4 2821 2850 2819

46.7 2844 2853 2844

47.0 2861 2853 2851

47.3 2890 2872 2880
