Hello everyone,

Getting into LRP and want to learn as much as I can. Not really having any friends in to the long range side of guns I was wondering if anyone would have me at there range or have any classes available within a couple hours of Central NC (Raleigh) ? Also if anyone would want to help me setup my rifle (setup rings scope etc)

Also any experience with Frontline Defense? They have a 2 day class for getting started in LRP for $475 in march and i was thinking about taking it.

Thanks for any help!

I'm a member of frontline defense with frequent visits, have had good interactions with the staff, but have not taken any classes. They run matches of various types where quite a large number of people show up. I wouldn't be afraid of taking their classes.

I chose not to take the long range class because I enjoyed learning through my own failures.

That is a big gap. From needing someone to help you mount a scope to paying good money for a long range class. You should have a lot of normal range experience behind you somewhere in there.

I’ve got more pistol and short range experience, long range is very new to me. I’ve been watching a ton a videos and reading. I just want to make sure I get everything set up correctly. I don’t mind learning on my own but if some one with a little experience in the subject goes a long way.

I’m not too far down the road from you in Chapel Hill. I can give you a hand setting up your scope if want. I haven’t been down to Frontline, but I’m also definitely interested in checking them out

I'm on a Carolinas area forum and have read a number of write-ups on courses and matches and have yet to read anything but good about the place.

If it weren't over four hours away I would have already plunked my money down.

I teach classes in Charleston area but have had quite a few requests to do some in NC. If i could line up enough people, i could hold a class in Sanford. Check out my website and shoot me an email if you might be interested. If there is enough interest and students to require it, i could bring in additional instructors to make sure everyone gets plenty of hands on attention.

Sorry in advance for the course schedule not being up to date. It is a work in progress since my website guy has moved away.

I'm a member at Frontline and shoot his PRS club matches. Got started in this few years ago by taking the same class you reference. I'd be happy to share more with you by phone if you want to message me a good contact number. You've got access to a great range at Frontline defense, many of us drive two to three hours to get there. I was there this morning in fact. Great facility. PRS practice area, deck on 1000 yard range with steel every 100 from 300-1000. New building, club house type, top shelf place.

I’ve taken the intro to LR class at Frontline and its definitely worth the money. There were several guys in my class that had never shot past 100yds and by the end of the class they were hitting steel out to 1,000yds and understanding what they were doing. Not just lay here, dial this into the scope and try not to jerk the trigger. Paul and Dale (co instructor) teach the fundamentals and explain everything very well. You should walk away with a good foundation to build upon

The BMG shit is coming. FLD is one of the top ranges on the east coast. Paul is an awesome person and a great instructor. Theres a reason Shannon Kay chose Paul to be the SE regional MD.
