Scope: Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm M3

My elevation turret doesn't seem to zero correctly. As you can see in this photo, when it's at the hard stop, the indication mark on the scope lines up between the elevation notches on the turret knob.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Should I contact Leupold?

Loosen the cap and line it up correctly. Whoever zeroed it didn't take care to make sure it was correctly lined up.

Well, that's exactly the problem. It is lined up as far as it will go. The small stop inside the knob (looks like a tiny ball bearing) won't allow the turret to line up any closer than that.

its the ring under the turrent cap with the notch on it. The ring is what that bearing stops on with the notch. That ring is not correctly lined up for what you are getting on the turrent.

I had the same issue. I was not happy with it. So my simple fix was to just rotate the ring by this method. With the turrent set screws loose and being able to lift it off, lift the turrent up so you can rotate the cap clockwise past the zero marking on the turrent. Let the turrent then settle back on the scope the way it should be.

With the turrent still in a free spin, keep rotating clockwise until that bearing stops against the notch. Ever so slightly, with a little strength and pressing down, rotate that ring with the turrent just a little. You will feel slight resistence in this process. You have to press down on the turrent so that the bearing will not skip over the notch.

You can gauge how much by looking at the turrent markings by how much you need to turn it. By the look of the pic's, looks like half a MOA.

Reset the turrent to it's original configuration and check your adjustment. Keep doing the process until you have what you want. Just make sure you are not in between click settings on the scope adjustments or your scope will still be off.

Simple fix, not need to send it back, PM if you got questions.

Thanks for the suggestion, 8up!

I started this procedure, but it looks like the little notch is just getting chewed up by the ball bearing in the turret cap. Doh! I don't want to fuck it up, maybe I'll just give Leupold a call on Monday. :\

Just a quick update to close this out. I contacted Leupold and they had me send the scope in for repair. I had it back in my possession not even a week after I had mailed it out. When I unwrapped it, it was as good as new!

I tried to Google "turrent" and found this from Urban Dictionary: "A common misspelling of the word "turret," usually made by people with a fourth-grade education."
