Re: Anyone from upstate NY area?

I'm actually just south of Albany, exit 21 Catskill.Local club I'm a member of has a 250 yd range that I'm thinking come spring ( about when we need it most) I'm gonna try and put together a pseudo-tactical type fun match.

Re: Anyone from upstate NY area?

I'm down on the Island, but shoot in Cortland Co. on the weekends. Albany is probably closer for me to drive thatn wereh I normally go, so I'd be in for a "shoot together"...

Re: Anyone from upstate NY area?

Get your butt up to exit 24 and we can put a good group together at Forbes rifle range. 600 yards every Thursday, 1000 practice once a month starting in May. I shoot just about every weekend up to 300 yards when spring comes around and the range opens back up.

Re: Anyone from upstate NY area?

im about 3 hours but would make the drive for some longer range shooting only got 200 by me

exhogflyer,

I am near Saratoga Springs...if anyone is interested in shooting during the winter..I have access to several ranges....one has 500yds..one is a farm..a couple other places..

I practice weekly, and often shoot again on the weekends.

Re: Anyone from upstate NY area?

There a group of us in Central NY from the Syracuse, Rochester, Ithaca triangle who get together several times a month at Odessa, which is about 15 minutes East and South of Watkins Glen. Our club range goes to 250yd, and we shoot 200yd sorta F Class first Saturday, and Sunday two weeks later each month, weather permitting. There's a roofed concrete slab with 6 wide shooting bays. At the peak this past Summer, we had 'round 16 shooters for some of the matches. Three guys showed up this past Sunday in 20 degrees. Good thing we have a clubhouse with wood stove and flush johns.

STP runs the matches, shoot him a PM to see if he's doing any more before Spring, and watch the SH Tactical Competitions Forum for announcements. Bring 40 rounds for score, plus unlimited sighters (I bring between 10-20 spare/sighter/fouler rounds), and a scoped rifle configured in accordance with regular F Class rules, except we tolerate muzzle brakes. The Club gets $10.

I'm packing for Florida, so I'm pretty done until late April myself.

The atmosphere is non-official/club match; meant as practice and training for beginners and older hands alike. Mostly it's about bringing averybody along to being better shooters. There's a lot of coaching going on, and mainly we're there for fun.

Re: Anyone from upstate NY area?

Anyone have a hook at Forbes? You need to have a current member sponsor you to become a member. I shoot an hour north of me at Canaan Rifle Club and would be up for something this spring around Albany.

Re: Anyone from upstate NY area?

I can sponsor you but we need to meet up beforehand just so I can get a little background on you. Due to problems in the past with mall commandos shooting over the berms, they really try and limit their members to law enforcement, military or very accomplished shooters. 2010 memberships have to be in no later than 1/31/10, so maybe we can hook up in the next couple of weeks. PM me with some background info and I will make a call to get things rolling.
