Anyone have a DPMS Sweet Sixteen (Bull Barreled)

Re: Anyone have a DPMS Sweet Sixteen (Bull Barreled)

I have a DPMS 24" bull barrel. It is very accurate out of the box, no problems, and it cycles great. I did a write up on a thread in the semi autos under "New LR-308". Its at the bottom of the thread.

Yes I have a dpms sweet 16. I also have a 20" DPMS. No problems with either. Slight loss of velocity with the 16" but accuracy is actually better. Don't know why? 20" is a moa gun while the 16 is sub moa (both at 100yds)

Yeah thats what i've heard from some on here - its only the velocity affected by the shorter barrel, but the accuracy should not suffer at all - of course the effective range will due to less velocity.

I have heard also though that the carbine length gas system is not quite as reliable as the full/mid'length system. I Dont know that personally.

I like it OK, but it is a heavy barrel, personally I would not want one any longer (note that I also have a 24" bull barreled AR that feels kinda like a plastic-stocked truck axle).

Have consistenly gotten 3/4 MOA with 55 grain FGMM and TAP.

Has run OK with good ammo.

But would not eject/feed properly with some lesser quality ammo.

The original DPMS trigger sucks.....mine now has a custom trigger.

Thanks guys. I keep looking at them and know a guy locally that has one he's thinking of selling or trading. I'll see what he wants, if it's reasonable, maybe I'll give it a whirl.
