I cannot find any real comparisons between my current Vortex Razor and this new XRS. Or any reviews at all for that matter which might compare it against another FFP scope. Im trying to decide on a 2nd scope; this new Bushnell appears to be a sweet setup. However, im a little nervous as to how "useable" the reticle would be at say 12X. The rifle Im shopping for a scope for is my Rem 700 with a 27" long Bartlein Heavy Varmint barrel shooting .300WM. The tactical long range matches around here are 1000 yards at most. With some practice matches out to 1400 yards. I love my Vortex Razor and am willing to buy another, but im trying to keep my options open for something that might be better for my WinMag. Im concerned about transition shots from short range to long range and not being able to acquire targets fast enough. $2000 is alot of dough to just buy and try without good reviews and experianced shooters feedback. I like the idea of having 30X when the time comes to just do some long distance bench shooting/hunting where I wont be transitioning like in the matches. Tough one for me.

Can't tell where you are from by profile. If local I could let you play with one. As for power I don't believe their is too much. I shoot 95% of all competition shots including movers over 20 x or on max power in the x 17 USO's power helps to see the target, train for power.
When you say 'useable' you have to say what kind of reticle the scope has.
FFP is very user friendly in comparison with SFP. The only advantage I've ever gotten to use in SFP is that I was able to decrease power by half and know that I doubled what the scope subtends. And, that was only because at minimum power the target was out of the scope. Otherwise, FFP holds all the advantages over SFP.

Doing a search I'm showing these only coming up at $800-$900. Including the ones with the more complex reticles.

Okay, Not trying to be dumb here. I went on to SWFA and they have a 4.5-30x50 34mm scope for $2200. Is that the one you refer to? If so, I'd really like to know why it's that much when the $900 model is doing a bang up job. Those are the ones I've seen. I did keep looking and noticed that none of the other $900 scopes came with the G2 reticle. There is a 6-24 30mm with a G2 for $1k.
So, since I can't give you an honest revue of the scope you are looking at, I can only reiterate what I've seen and said the past few years. A long time ago I wrote off Bushnell as something not to buy. But having looked through a number of their 'Elite' scopes, and having seen them on rifles doing well, I might well recommend one. They have the appearance (by the number of people I see still using the same ones) that they are somewhat durable. The glass I've looked through is heads and shoulders better than it used to be. I haven't looked through their newer 30x top end scopes though. The highest I've looked through is their 6-24x50.
But, based on what I've seen and to a point used, and the direction I see Bushnell taking, they would be a good scope to go with. For my needs, as I see them mirroring yours to a degree, I wouldn't worry about going 1.5x lower and 6x higher. Many times I've had to drop power to see at 1k. Most of the time I ever used some extremely high power was at 100-300 yds. when shooting benchrest. Once you range out a ways, it's often hard to get the scope cranked up without mirage killing you. My $.02 is that you don't need to spend an extra grand getting a 34mm tube and 6x more power over a 24x. But if you want it, I'd say the proof is in the pudding finally, that Bushnell is producing a solid enough product that you won't go wrong with it.

The new XRS has better glass, G2DMR or Horus H59 reticle, more adjustment (30 mil elevation), matching turrets with 10 mil/rev, locking turrets with zero stop, and 6.66 mag range with zero tunneling at the bottom.

I have one with the H59 reticle, but haven't shot it yet. From playing with it so far the glass seems great all the way out to 30. I'm going to Pala on Sunday to zero my rifle and will post back with my thoughts. I'm shooting on a .300 win mag FWIW.
If I can figure out how to get away from my home project, I would like to make it over to Pala since Ive never been there. This Bushnell is looking better every day. Definitely keep us/me posted on your findings with your new Bushnell.

I just mounted mine last week on my competition rifle. Took off my NF F1. Initial impressions are very good. I plan on myself and a couple of friends with different glass getting together and doing side by side comparison to other glass, NF, SB, possibly a vortex and what ever else we can come up with. Ill let you know but so far it had good clarity edge to edge, parallax worked well, it tracked good, reticle was legible from top to bottom, of course it had a pretty narrow field of view at high power but that's expected. The eye box was a little tight but that's probably a result of the wide power range. I haven't seen any other side by side either, but I have been shooting one of their 3.5 x 21 scopes for a year or so and liked it and I really like that they upgraded it to include the 10 mil knob and zero stop and figured this should be as good or better. I'm sure somebody will do a very detailed look at it pretty soon, these scopes are out there in use quite a bit now and are becoming popular.
