Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

I have one. Its a great ar10 for under 2000. It will shoot everything you feed it. I put brown bear, silver bear, Wolf, surplus. I have put over 500 rounds and no problem. I have added alot of goodies on it. Even cerakote Burnt bronze.

One of my customers tells me his won't cycle 175gr FGMM 7.62x51. Have you tried it in yours?

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

No. I havent use that weight yet. only 165g spitzer boat tail.
147g 150g FMJ and 155 XTP. I get 1" groups at 100 yards with
147g FMJ PMC. havent gone any farther. you for get this gun you wont be sorry. I was going to get a POF but it was $800 more. you can shoot any bullet with this brown bear, silver bear, wolf and surplus.

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

Well I pulled the trigger yesterday and my Sig716 should be delivered to my dealer tomorrow. I also have a YHM QD muzzle brake on the way so I can run my can on it. My two good friends just bought an OBR and a LMT 16" 308. I am looking forward to seeing these three guns run side by side.

I am also interested to see how dirty the sig gets running a can. The OBR with a can=filthy spent brass.

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

I picked up my Sig716 this weekend, got it cleaned and relubed. I have ordered a Yankee Hill 7.62 QD Brake, Geissele SD-E trigger, and five additional Magpul mags. Once everything gets here I'll be taking her out to the range to run her through the paces. I enjoy the feel and balance of the rifle and wouldn't mind running this rifle as an entry gun with the right ammo.

I agree that Gas guns are dirty but I want to see if a gas piston gun is "less" dirty than a direct impingement gas system. And the extra gas setting choices make it a great choice for suppressed guns.

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

I have one! I haven't had any issues with mine! I did put the SSA trigger on it. A new trigger is well worth the money!

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

I took the rifle out to the range for a quick trip. The rifle seemed to group about 1.5-2MOA at 100yds with Winchester 168hthp. Some of this may be operator error and may be correctable. I was disappointed in my groups from Winchester white box 147fmj, 8MOA groups at 100yds. It was like I was trying to shoot four corners on a sheet of typing paper. I have a bunch of ball ammo at home so this is disappointing.

The YHM muzzle brake is very effective at controlling recoil and muzzle climb. Double taps from th 10yd line spaed 2.5" and were controllable.

More to come

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

I was getting under 1'' MOA the day I sighted my scope in with my 716! I wasn't shooting FMJ bullets either. I believe I was shooting 168gr Federal HPBT. I read they like 165Gr, but haven't had time to try them!

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

Just hard to go wrong with Sig Sauer imo fellas.
I've got a little M400 Enhanced and love it.
At one time I listed it for sale to fund something else, but decided against it because it's such a great little AR. I would so love to have a 716 one day.......

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

I took the 716 out to the range again and the Win 168bthp shot about 1.5" again.

And again the 147fmj shot about 8" group. This is very disappointing! The standard SIG716 is being sold as a battle rifle, as such it should be able to shoot the standard ball ammunition for the caliber. The rifles inability to hold even a 3moa group with ball ammo is unacceptable!

Does anyone think I'm crazy for this thought?

I'd be disappointed, to say the least. Shoot different 147 grain ammo, check all of your fasteners, etc, you know the drill.

Beats the hell out of me. Something is wrong, don't think it's you, you said yourself it would shoot 1.5', didn't think ammo would make that much of a diff.
Let us know what happens. I've seen weird POI shifts when ammo/grain weight were changed, sounds like you are shooting buckshot. LOL.

Re: Anyone have a Sig 716?

I did reshoot the 168bthp ammo and was able to maintain my group size. I also tested some 173gr FMJ match ammo reloads that stayed under 2moa.

You are right. my next plan is to find a few different types of ball ammo and test it.
