I have been thinking about either another 3-27 or the 5-45 for an ELR rifle. Any with any experience with it I would appreciate your opinion!

Depends on the Reticle you pick. The thin LRR is probably perfect for that scope. It's long as F* (No, that's not what she said, you're still small).
I messed with the Tremor3 in it. It's great out to 35x. You might have a hard time shooting at 45x depending on what type of rifle/ caliber you have it on. Picture starts to get dark after 35x. If you like the Horus Reticles, stick with the 3-27x.

Thank you
I prefer the h59 reticle as well as matching other optics. I am getting older and remembering all the reticle measurements are getting ridiculous!

Ive got the one with the P4FL - best scope I own to date - I have a bunch of SB 5-25's (5 off) , a SB 3-27, a SB 12-50 and a NF Beast - I use it on one of my 300PRC's , it really is an unfair advantage, but then again you cant hit what you cant see (full discolsure I also have a Vortex Gen2 , which is relegated to a gas gun)

just another opinion. As a S& B lover I bought one of the first europtic had. It was too big and power too high for me. I love my NF 7x35 and Tangent Thetas better....matter of taste...

I had one for a while. Its not that long, about 1/2 inch longer than 5-25 and its a 9X erector system. Optically it is superb and head and shoulders above the other scopes mentioned and it does not get dark at 45X. The resolution is perhaps the best of any S&B ive ever used.
The downside is it only has 27 Mils of adjustment so if you need more than that youll need more incline on the base.

I stuck mine in one of the ERA-TAC adjustable mounts, solves that problem, as I can add more in 10 MOA steps as needed.

as much as I want a sNb 5x45x50 I can wait till them and the night force prices come down to around 500 dollars and not be missing anything . Unless I hit the lottery then all bets on waiting are off , but they sure are sexy scopes .
