Anyone test out the new Sig Sauer 716 DMR rifle? I'm not talking about the Sig 716 3 Gun Heavy version with the old style Piston gas system, but the new and improved Sig 716 DMR rifle. I found an LE dealer that had one and the price was right to pick one of these up. The factory Test Target has 5 shots in a 0.62" group at 100 Meters which isn't too bad for an 18" Piston Rifle. I am getting this all set up now and have not yet shot it. I am waiting on a scope mount for it and then its off to my back yard 400 yard private gun range. I replaced the Geissele SSA trigger that came with my Sig 716 DMR with a Geissele SSA-E trigger so it should help improve the accuracy.
I owned a 2012 Sig 716 Patrol rifle a while back and it was a very decent carbine. The only change I made was to install a Geissele SSA-E trigger into it and that really helped with accuracy Big time. I was getting 1/2 MOA out to 300 yards with that 16" Patrol Carbine, but with 3 shot groups. Pretty decent for a 16" Piston Carbine. So with this being said I am really looking forward to seeing what this new DMR version will do. It has a better Match 18" barrel and a new designed Piston system, as well as some other improvements.. And with the 5 shot Test Target I am really positive that this Sig 716 DMR will perform well.
Anyone have one of the new Sig 716 DMR Rifles?
Please post your Pros and Cons.
Here is a Pic all set-up minus the scope and mount. Not a bad Sniper Rifle for the money.
