Rifle Scopes anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

The leica 1200 is a good lrf. I had one for a while and was happy with it's performance. I had returns at 1150 to 1250(yards) without a steady rest. I would think that conditions would dictate the range any of them. I doubt you will get returns off of groundhogs at 1000 but your mileage may vary.
good luck

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

I have the Leica compact rangfinder 1200, and used it this past weekend to get ranges on a steel target 12-18"?? at 979 and ranges on a hill side just over 1,000 yards. It is what I purchased to use for comps this year and I have been very happy. As I understand it, the Leica has a very tight laser beam, which makes it great for smaller targets.

I hit 975 yards up to a house on a hill outside my front door. Graham is right, holding it steady is the problem. I was braced against a post on my front porch.

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

I have had one for alittle over a year now, and love it, the farthest reading i have got on a deer was around 1100 yrds. on a cloudy day. it seems to do better with overcast then bright sunny days.

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

I have a friend that has the leica and it seems to work very well. However i do have a problem with the way it and most Laser RFs are designed to be held. The slim vertical holding position on the leica and others just bothers me. I can't hold it that steady. I bought a zeis PRF which feels more like binoculars in my hands and have ranged plenty @ 1300. I was astounded by the zeiss when it picked up such small detailed objects @500+ such as medium grown trees and things that i didn't expect it to pick up. It also ranges very fast and under 1000yds you really don't have to be "dead" steady with it. The leica will serve you fine as i said it's a great range finder.

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

Long story short, I think they are junk. Their customer service ain't too shabby though.

The same day I got my second new replacement, I listed it for sale. No more Leica for me.

The Zeiss PRF = AWESOME!!!!

Edit: I'm referring to the CRF Rangemaster 1200 above, not the LRF....I have no experience with the LRF model.

I had the LRF 1200, I think, it was the bigger one. For ~$400 I think it was an awesome buy. Used it for a year or two and then ordered the 1600CRF. It is much better at hitting longer ranges.

Love the reticle and the incline/decline feature could be very handy. Especially hunting.

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

I have a Newcon LRM 1500 It in most of your opinions is junk but I've had it for about 6 months and yes on really bright days the sun washes the laser out on anything past 700 yards. On a cloudy day it will range out to 1500 with no problems I have a friend with a Zeiss and he has double checked me and come up with the same readings so doesn't do anything but range but so far so good.

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

I've got both the old 1200 horizontal model Leica and the new 1600 yard version. I like both, but the 1600 has an obvious edge and it's nice as it offers angle readings also. I ranged two bulls last fall with mine at 1830 yards...that impressed me.

Re: anyone have the Lica 1200 LRF....

I have the 1200 LRF. My best return has been a highway sign on a clear night at 1317yd.

In the field on targets like steel plates and rocks, 1038yd.

On fur bearing targets the best I've gotten back isn't really applicable as I haven't seen a target in excess of 597yd to try it out on.
