My GDS is 11-12 (rescue so not 100% sure). He is not doing the miles of walks anymore, jumping in/out of the Polaris, or really jumping into the truck any more. He has a custom built ramp. He has been on Adequan for about 18 months and doesn't seem to be helping. We use Rimadyl occasionally, but it knocks him out if we use more than 1/2 the normal dose. The Vet has recommended Librela.
Anyone have their big dog on this? Issues, reactions, results? Time to see any improvement?
Looks like this isn't available through PetMeds or Chewy so it may be a monthly trip to the vet. That isn't an issue, just easier to do it at home. And his "special Tech" that he adopted left and he isn't impressed with any of the replacements. He is very particular about what female (ONLY!) gives him shots....
And, yea, he is pretty spoiled.
"Librela (bedinvetmab) is a monoclonal antibody medication approved by the FDA for the treatment of pain associated with osteoarthritis (OA) in dog.
Librela works by blocking a specific protein called nerve growth factor (NGF), which plays a role in the development and maintenance of pain signals in OA. "
