Anyone Know if Youtube is indeed shutting off Gun Sites

Maybe I don't either. Perhaps you should tell us.

I agree with Tucker. Segmenting us to narrow focus sites accomplishes exactly what Google and the other freedom fuckers are trying to do. Isolation and therefore diminished impact.
You are arguing about the viability of segmentation of the first amendment on the Snipers Hide. Google holds no sway here and neither does ARF.com nor the Brian Enos forums... freedom works best when radially distributed.

So, you are just throwing back at me exactly what I just said. Good for you. You still haven't explained the economy to me and the reason why Tucker's post is, in your mind, not viably correct in economic terms.

And if freedom is best when 'radially distributed', do we measure it in radians? Exactly what does that mean in economic terms? I'll admit to being a bit lost in your terminology.

I don't think you realize how the economy works...

So, you think that Full30 is a viable competitor to Youtube, given the narrow scope of Full30? hahahaha. Youtube probably doesn't know that full30 exists. It surely doesn't see full30 as a competitor. They are throwing out gun vids because in their economic calculus, removing that content does more to protect their bottom line than keeping the content. Youtube makes money because of the wide breadth of the content. I think what Tucker is saying is that these niche video hosting sites, that only cater to one type of content will have a hard time competing. And, if you are going to take on the 800 lb gorilla, you want to be a gorilla too. And and, if your argument is "But what about my 1st amendment rights? You don't like them? Ok, I'm taking my content to a platform that ONLY hosts similar content..." you are holding contradictory thoughts. If you are going to support the second by supporting the first, support the first...

Radians? Fuck no! Europeans measure in radians. We're 'Mericans. In 'Merica we measure in MOA, inch per hunert yards to be exact.

Seems lots of people are getting 500 errors when attempting to view channels on youtube. I checked some politically neutral ones and they work, but infowars, hickock45, crowder, etc are out of comission.

My channel is down

Yes, it's the channel display that's broken. I have a dozen or so IT related channels that I follow and the majority of them are down. They have nothing to do with firearms. Direct links to the videos works.

They aren't even competing any more. Youtube is self selecting out. They won't be competing for the same advertisers, nor the same audience. And we'll be more free because the free market will fill the void created by YouTube's exit. How do you think pornhub (speaking of first amendment concerns) came to be? If Youtube keeps down selecting their scope, they will be tidepod kitten vloggers only platform. I'm sure they will still be profitable but they will loose market share just like cnn and nbc.

Pornhub, I think, is a poor example. Blue, red, purple, vegan, carnivore, white supremacist, antifa, cops, firefighters, priests, atheists- all watch porn. It reminds me of something I heard said about Howard stern years ago. The average Howard stern listener- the story went- listened to him for an hour (?) a day. The average Howard stern haired listened to him more than twice as long every day. And, porn is hardly a niche market.

How do you make a small fortune? Start with a large fortune and open a restaurant.

As to competition, the question is not “what advertisers would they be competing for?” The question is “what advertizers are left?” Can you attract enough advertizers to make a video hosting site viable with a gun only focus? I don’tknow, but I’d wager you better start with deep pockets. Like opening a restaurant, it sounds like a great way to make a small fortune, out of a large fortune.

An increased breadth of audience increases the pool of potential advertizers. As an analogy, it was stated recently that gun buyers also buy soccer balls- a lesson that Dicks is learning the hard way...

That is a sword that cuts both ways... you think guns would be the only thing advertised to the gun buying and predominantly conservative/libetarian populace?

Meh. Time will tell. I hope the market fragmentation of media continues much the same way market fragmentation of bolt actions and barrels have. The individual who properly vets their investments will always win when there is an abundance of choice...

I had the same thing searching content of the hide on chrome as well.

R

Ditch chrome and google, use Firefox and DuckDuckGo.

Using anything google at this stage is akin to sending money to North Korea with a note that says “Please don’t use this for evil”

Worst thing to happen to the internet was when google were allowed to buy YouTube.

And I used to think Apple were bad.
