Anyone know of a lightweight option for 34mm adjustable rings? I know of the Burris XTR and will try them in a pinch, but they are made of steel and are HEAVY.

Background for why I ask:
I'm looking to add a 34mm scope to the picatinny rail of an air rifle and shoot up to 200 yards. I suspect I'm going to run into a problem with the loopy trajectory of a projectile only traveling about 900 fps. I expect about 40 MOA of drop at 200 yards. I've got my eye on two scopes. My favorite is the March 10-60x56 HM which has 60 MOA of built in adjustment. The other is a March 5-40x56 with 75 MOA of built in adjustment. If each scope happens to be optically centered at 100 yards, The 10-60 will fall about 10 MOA short. The 5-40 might make it, but would be maxed out.

I know the 34mm Burris rings are advertised as being steel, but I purchased a pair and they are not. The 2 base pieces that wedge the ring and rail are steel. Just like they are on the 30mm version that I own, but the ring bodies that accept the inserts are not.

I can see why 34mm adjustable rings aren't widely available. It seems like a pretty rare problem that I've come across. Not many Airgun shooters x Not many who shoot to 200 yards x not many who use 34mm scope = not worth making.

Have you considered a lower magnification scope? March 3-24x52 has enough adjustment range for you.

Actually, I have a March 2.5-25x42 and 1-10x24 (both SFP). I like both scopes very much which is why I'm leaning so hard towards the two higher mag March scopes. The 25x mag can do the job, but at 200 yards, little .22 cal sized holes sometimes get lost.

Got it. That makes sense.

Honestly, you first need to decide if you are looking for a FFP or SFP scope. If you want FFP, maybe it is worth your while to just bite the bullet and get the 5-42x56 March. I am messing with one now and it is a really nice design.

If you want SFP, there are some less expensive options that have a little more adjustment and are quite nice. I have a Delta Stryker 5-50x56 that probably has enough adjustment range for the types of things you do. It is not quite as nice as the March, but very good for the money.

It is funny you mentioned the Delta Stryker. I paid the import fee for one before I even bought my March scopes. The scope I received had a very noticeable artifact on the reticle so I sent it back. Fair or not, it made me lose taste in the brand.

I prefer SFP most of the time. I seldom take advantage of the FFP advantages and they usually cost a bit more than their SFP brethren.

Airgun’s of Arazona sells 34mm adjustable rings I just got a set for my 22lr that I’ve been shooting at 430 and 500 yards. I think eagle vision makes them

@JeremyV

Awesome find! Thank you! I found them at Utah Airguns as well.

They would probably work ok for an air rifle that doesn't have recoil which is what I would buy them for. I don't think I'd trust them to hold zero with a powder burner.

There are quite a few scopes out there with more elevation range.

For example, the new March 5-42x56 has a total of 140 MOA of adjustment. You should not have any problems making it with this scope and it is optically excellent.

I have them on a 22lr and they are fine for that but definitely not going to use them on anything bigger then that. They are pretty high and thats a bummer but made it to where I can shoot out to 500 yards with my 22lr.

What about running something like the Hawkins 20moa rings? Possibly an ar15 Mount with added MOA.

Hell maybe the old school a beer can shim or 2 in the bottom of the back ring to add some extra moa to the equation?

I've done that before in a pinch but am always a bit nervous about having the scope get damaged while a bit crooked in the rings. The added pressure on the front of each ring seems likely to dent the tube to me.

Apparently the first half of my reply didn’t post so I edited it. I would try a ring with 20 moa or more built in

Not sure what we can link to. So here is a screenshot of some from an article about taking a 300 prc to 2,000. I don’t know any details like height, etc.

I ended up ordering the Burris XTR rings in 1 inch height. They are heavy, but definitey bomb proof. If my scope loses zero, it won't be the rings' fault!
I used the high Burris XTR Signature rings to mount my March-X 10-60X56 HM on my match FTR rifle. I wanted an additional 10MOA to go with the 20MOA rail to stay closer to the center of this marvelous optics when shooting 1000 yards. Solid setup. Already been through two matches so far.

I found a 10-60 and while talking to the seller discovered he had a 5-40 he was willing to sell as well. I pounced on both scopes and am looking forward to putting them through their paces. I have the Burris rings on their way. I think I'll get a set of the Kelbly rings for the 5-40 on a different rifle with dovetails. :)
