Anyone out there use these rifles? I read some old reviews about them not having positive extraction. But last I heard they now do have it. So rubber mallet does not ship with this rifle anymore. Curious on accuracy (MOA) with M33 ball, felt recoil, durability? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks...

I own one.I bought it for the action and the retractable stock feature.Jim made the stock lefty friendly for me too.I shortened the barrel and rechambered it in 50 spotter.Great deer rifle now.I Just need to install a trigger with a safety.I use a piece of rubber that fits behind the trigger when I'm in the stand, with a round in the chamber.Otherwise the rifle is unloaded at all times. No problems with extraction. It shot around 2 MOA with ball at 600 yds and 1 moa with Amax match loads when it was a 50bmg.Never shot it any further than that.Never had any problems with it either. It's a good platform for a shooter looking to try out the 50bmg.Jim is a good guy to deal with too.

Re: Anyone out there use Noreen .50 BMG?

I was at the indoor Range last month in Longmont and a guy was shooting a Noreen 338LM next to me. In fact I let him use my MagnetoSpeed Chronograph. He shot some Federal 300gr bullet and then switch so some Selliers and Belliot I think they are called and on his second shot the rifle exploded.

Lucky for him, the blast went down the mag well, but it totally cratered the gun. Hurt his arm a bit. Bent the frame on the upper receiver... and there was just pieces and parts everywhere.

Not a good thing... I don't' know what happened but it looked to me like it fired with the bolt not fully seated as it blew the back into the butt stock.

@Lowlight Yikes... That sounds fishy... Slam Fire perhaps? Maybe the primer on the S&B is a match grade one. Does the 338 semi-auto have a firing pin retaining pin like the normal .308 AR10's?

@shoots100 Do you have any idea what trigger they use for the action. Since its a Timmney it must be a mass produced version of something else like maybe its a Remmy 700 triger or and AK trigger or something like that. If you do happen to find out what rifle it was originally made for please let me know as I would be interested in a safety as well... Figure you could just machine out alittle of the aluminum block to make room for a thumb safety...

Let me know, thanks for the info...

Re: Anyone out there use Noreen .50 BMG?

@shoots100 Forgot to ask, at what range did you zero it at and what kind of accuracy did you get with say 100yd target? I imagine that expecting .5 MOA would be a tad unrealistic haha... What is a good .50 BMG group? 1MOA? I mean the darn thing is a half in in diameter... Thanks...

I never tried or have any dealings with their 338 semi auto, but It's never good when a rifle explodes.Luckilly it was a 338,not a 50bmg.Hopefully the shooter is OK and they find out what happened to make it explode.

Onto the 50bmg.The rifle uses a mauser style trigger and the top style safety won't work, unless you extend the trigger safety selector to go around the action.I'm still looking for a bottom safety mauser trigger. The rifle is very accurate.I zero'd in in at 100 yards and it shot 1 to 1-1/2" 5 shot groups. The same at 200yds.Thats with Amax and Ball reloaded ammo. It's only draw back,is that its a shell holder and takes some time to reload. No quick follow up shots with this rifle, but usually you don't need more than one shot. With the proper gauges and a spanner wrench for the brake and barrel, you can change barrels to make it super accurate,or a different caliber. As long as the caliber is based on the 50bmg cartridge.Like the 50dtc,50 spotter(M48)and 416 barrett.Like I wrote before,it's a good rifle platform to play around with.
