Anyone put a tracking device with their rifle/case?

I'm signed up for my first match that I need to fly to. and it got me thinking - has anyone bought any kind of "tracking" chip/device that they leave in their rifle case or even on the gun itself somewhere that can be tracked via cell phone?

does something affordable like this exist?

not even just for flying - but you hear horror stories of peoples trucks getting broken into at matches/hotels and all their shit stolen. It would be handy if there was a tracking chip in the dang gun. we pay close to $10k for some of these rifles - i think it might be worth it.

Any smart thief would toss case and part out rifle as quick as possible imo. Tracker wouldn't be that much help. But they are semi cheap if you can handle the subsciption.

As far as leaving rifle in truck, I can't be the only one who carts in rifle to hotel Vehicles are not gun safes.

As far as leaving rifle in truck, I can't be the only one who carts in rifle to hotel Vehicles are not gun safes.

Agreed. I think the story I heard was they were at dinner/store after the match. So maybe it wasn’t in the hotel parking lot. I think most of us bring our stuff inside to the room yeah.

Hollow out a part of the recoil pad rubber in the butt of your rifle and place the tracking chip there.

Probably lots of clever places to put a tracking chip on a rifle if one was so inclined.

I've been a police officer for 19 years. I've only seen about 4 cars actually broken into. The other hundred or so were just left unlocked and the owner had a bunch of gun stickers on the rear window

I guess I'm the only one that runs a cable through the action and padlocks it to the seat frame on the ride home?

I like the tracking device idea for when it leaves your sight and is picked up by TSA, etc.
