I bought a Seal Sniper from Bill Hays of pocketpredator.com before Christmas and I love it. Bill is a master with the slingshot and can do things with a slingshot I can't do with a rifle. It is made of G10 and a work of art. I am hoping to get good enough by next hunting season to kill a rabbit or squirrel with it. My current ammo of choice is 7/16 ball bearings. Here is the link to his site www.pocketpredator.com

There was not a small game animal within a mile of the house that did not live in total fear of me pulling that slingshot out of my back pocket. They seemed to figure out if I pulled that sucker, someone was going home hurting if not dead. I honestly didn't know a squirrel could laugh itself to death. Truth be told though, him holding his little furry sides and falling out of the tree may have been what killed him. That only happened once though. The critters normally went home with sore stomach muscles and a case of the hiccups. I eventually felt sorry for the 'em and gave up the slingshot:)

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

I had several slingshots, but they were the wrist rocket style, not like the one in that link. They had the cross strap that came over the top of your wrist. I was actually a pretty decent shot with mine. I would shoot the ball bearings till they were gone, then it was just good ole rock ammo. My main targets of choice were usually stray cats (any cat in sight was a "stray" in my book). I think I still have a 1970's model aluminum frame wrist rocket that belonged to my dad. He would shoot grouse/prairie chickens with it when elk hunting.

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

We've killed several animals with slingshots in afghanistan to change up our balanced diet of mre's and copenhagen. I may have to get one of these. One guy got a box from his church that had all these toys we gave out to kids we used the marbles for the slingshot to hunt with and kill time.

Definitely need to get one of these things though

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

Haha, those videos bring back memories. I had a slingshot when I was a kid. It was the first ones out with the yellow rubber on all steel black base. Those were some fun times.

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

I've had plenty of wrist rockets when I was younger, but I always had one universal problem with them which was I just could never figure out how you were suppose to aim them. I know the modern high end ones nowadays actually have a sighting system on them, but the ones I'm used to didn't. Still never took away from the fact they were fun to shoot.

A guy I knew had the David and Goliath era slingshot that you swing over your head and release. He was deadly accurate on squirrels and nuisance critters. I tried it, but learned that it would take tons of practice to get good with it.

Easy to make and deadly, with practice.

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

For some unknown reason I am insanely accurate with a wrist rocket. I have never practiced much. Just one of those weird things U are good at. I can hit a beer can pretty far away and consistently.

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

I carried one for years in the top of my large ruck. It came in handy for many uses......

As a kid if I couldn't get my pellet rifle the wrist rocket was sure to be close by. 1/2 ball bearings from my uncle's truck shop, 1/4 shot, marbles, in a pinch a nice rock...and if in a rowdy mood a green percimin.

Ah yes many a rabbit, squirrel and pigeon went down

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

My papa always kept a hickory fork, inner tube, cotton twine, boot tongue leather sling shot and a coffee can full of rocks on his mule drawn wagon. He could pull that thing out load it and shoot a dog that was after his mules faster than some could draw a pistol. He made me one when I was about nine(27 years ago). I still have it in my safe. It didn't take many times for me to learn to keep my fingers out from inside the forks. :)

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

If you want to hunt get a wrist-rocket. It doesn't take long until you can get deadly accurate with one.

When I was a kid I used to literally walk around with one loaded up all the time shooting anything and everything.

My dad still talks about the time a mouse ran out from under a haybale he had picked up, and I picked it off at a dead run from about 20ft. Don't know if I coulda done it twice in a row or not but most of the time if I could see it I could hit it. I wish I could still shoot any weapon as well as I could that wristrocket in those days. I probably fired a whole tri-axel load of gravel from the barn driveway with that thing along with marbles, ball bearings, muzzleloader ammo etc...

Re: Anyone Shoot Slingshots

I ordered another one of the G10 ones a few days ago. I went with the seal this time. I also ordered 2 of the budget ones for people at work. I decided to order 2 extra budget ones because I thought someone else might want one. Sure enough one of my friends came up to me today and said he might want one. Once you get a pocket predator it becomes an addiction. It is the best slingshot I have ever seen.
