Thanks for the heads up. I'm weary about even getting it now. I want to order some .223, but I don't want it blowing up my gun

I personally know guys that have shot thousands of rounds of the 223 both the ball and the amax without any issues. I have shot hundreds of the ball and amax without a single issue.

I am going out today with some of my 308, I have over 500 rounds laying around. I will shoot it and report back with the results.

You might want to consider putting the chrono between 12-15" from the muzzle which is the typical recommendations. I am not surprised at the results you had given your misuse of the equipment. You had to have been blowing that thing like crazy with how close it was.

Typo I think.... I think you meant 12-15' (feet) not 12-15" (inches)....

LOL! Wow, thanks Lucks, yeah that is what I was trying to say.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

Responses like that drive me nuts. I got my replacement batch of the 175s and those also have chambering issues. Now they pull em from the shelves.....gonna have to send an email.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

I'm glad some of you are getting responses.

I've sent 3 emails, no reply

I've called many times, no answer only a full inbox

My order is still canceled.

My gift cards now hold no value.

Still no .308 on the site.

I'd really rather just order some .223 for the 3 mills carbine match, but I can't even do that

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

I picked up 500 rounds a couple of months ago and it's okay to good ammo. I grabbed the 150gr. FMJ 308 ammo. Out of my 20" LR-308, they chrono'ed at 2975fps and use it for plinking.

Good stuff, but shipping was a little pricey. I'd buy it again in a pinch as I'm not setup for loading 308 in bulk (just the single stage).

Blklabs- Sorry about the misuse of MY crono. Just following the directions it came with in the box pal. Stated in black and white starting distance is 4-5' but your the expert I guess. I can't see the logic behind getting lower than advertised velocity from having the devise that measures velocity too close. Care to give me a lecture on physics and how you think that should work as well expert?

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

Not an expert buddy just trying to help you out. Most people put the chorno 12-15 because of the muzzle blast. That muzzle blast will give you inaccurate recordings if it moves the screens. The readings are taken when the bullet crosses each sensor. If the sensors are closer or farther apart, even if it is only a very small distance, then it will skew the results. I know I have had issues when I put my ced2 too close to the muzzle.

I would be curious to see the results from your test at 12-15 feet vs 4 feet and see if there was a change.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

I'll get out to the range early this week and give it a go with some other ammo. All out of the USA. I'll try out as I've been using it and then move it out to where I'm supposed to. Thanks for the help and words of advise. Didnt know any better, just following the book. Re-post my findings.

Could you please ask someone what is going on with the 175 grain 308 ammo? I have been told there was a recall and to contact you guys about getting my previous order filled. I think it all goes back to the problems I brought up to you in my earlier messages. I ordered 240 rounds of it through the Gearhog promotion. I am wondering if there is a general time frame in which it is expected to ship or if there has been any progress in a solution to the problem. Any specific info would be appreciated.

That is who has kept in contact with me about when orders might go out and the same person who gave me the replies I posted in here. See what they can do and let us know. Good luck.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

I called back today and the lady I spoke with didn't know anything about a recall on the .308, when I ask what could be done about the 40 rounds I had that wouldn't chamber she transferred me to another lady that said they had some manufacturing issues with the .308 loaded with the 175. I told her that I had no interest in shooting their ammo any more so she just refunded my money and is sending a call tag for the 40 rounds.

Just curious does any one know what kind of bullet they are using for the 175? The open tip looks much larger than my SMK from southwest.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

i would have to agree with the thebearjew, i tried some of these in my winchester stealth ii, and guess what...stuck cases...one was stuck so bad, the ejector said ftw! and broke. rifle was clean, ammo was clean, no grease etc anywhere to cause a problem.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

I got a call from Rudy the other day. We played phone tag for a bit then I got a hold of him today. He said he was just calling to let me know that they sent out a new shipment of 308, though he didn't specify if they were the 175s or what ended up being the culprit. I just told him to hang in there and that shit happens, but I was appreciative of the phone call and that probably saved a customer for them.

In USA's defense (at least in my case), they were very good about getting the first replacement batch out to me, and they are continuing to try and make things right. We'll see what this stuff does tomorrow or Monday but the phone call was a big plus so thanks to the guys at USA. Keep your heads up, handle this issue, and get back in the game.

I just got 7 replacement boxes on monday 8/15 of 175s. Haven't been to the range or tried to chamber any yet. They are packaged differently, 4 five round boxes instead of the 2 ten round holders. So something is definitely different. I'll update when I see if they chamber.

Rudy at USAAMMO was very helpful and paid for all of the shipping, gave me a return label for the bad stuff. Wish I could say the same for the hide member who pawned the bad stuff off on me. We met FTF and when I asked him for contact info to help USAAMMO look up the original order he declined. Fortunately USAAMMO took care of it regardless.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

Hope to hear it goes good. Not cool of the guy who sold to you but glad your stuff was replaced.

I still haven't got the 240 rounds I paid for.

Anyone on here get a big order of 175's filled from the Gearhog deal yet?

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

Got a little gift from USAammo yesterday. As I said they refunded me for the 40 bad rounds I had, then yesterday ups showed up with 40 more rounds. Found a note inside saying to try this ammo out. Hard to say bad things about a company that will give out free ammo to try and keep a customer.

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

Would like to share my experience. USA ammo just opened a new ammunition manufacturing plant. We, as in my company, did the design for certain aspects of it (the fire prevention side). My guess is they are getting the new machines dialed in. Scary, but I am willing to bet they get it figured out. I have no interest in this company, just telling you my story. We, people in my company, ordered several thousand rounds of ammo (in excess of 10k+) of the different varieties offered. I myself only got the 175 match, and some 40's, and 45's. I have never had a problem with any of the ammo, or anyone else I know.

I chrono'd the 175 and only shot one 5-shot group to verify zero with new ammo. I cant find my print out, but it was in the range of 2685-2715 fps and shot just under 1/2 MOA (lucky batch?? we will see.) I was very pleased with it considering it to be $5 less per box than anything comparable. I have shot through my first case of it in practice and comps with never so much as a hiccup. I placed 2nd in my last match.

Im guessing once they get the fine tuning figured out from a new manufacturing plant, the ammo quality will go up. Is that an excuse for making faulty ammo? absolutely not, but for the price, I am more than satisfied. Still its scary to hear these stories. It has stopped me from ordering another couple cases until I can sompare this ammo in my rifle to some SW ammo I just bought. I hope the SW ammo dont shoot that much better

Re: Anyone Shooting USAammo??

any info on when they will be offering 308 to order from their site again? Been checking for a couple of weeks and all the 308 has been out of stock. I'm needing to order some soon, guess I will just go to palmetto and order some fgmm if they don't get things sorted soon.
