Just curious to see how these are doing and what the feedback is on these rifles. I like Sig products and I bet they would make a sweet AR-15.

The 516 "Patrol" version with a 16"-1 in 7" twist barrel has only recently become available. I've seen one post where there may have been an issue with 3 that were sold at an unnamed LGS (recall), but I've not seen anyone else who could/would confirm that. The 516 Precision Marksman (18" barrel, 1 in 7" twist) is not available as yet. The Sig 716 (7.62 x 51), which is supposed to come in several flavors, is not yet available either. I've spoken with a Sig rep and was told the 716 would be available "by the end of 2010".

The American Rifleman reviewed one and it was given a good grade.
There is also a thread on AR15.com where a couple of new owners give it good marks. There is a bit of info on the recall in the AR15.com thread as well.
Looks like is has the chance to be a really great out of the box rifle if SIG can fix whatever issues prompted their recall.
I`m really interested in seeing what the 7.62 version looks like.
I would like to see the SAFE and FIRE markings on the lower changed to the HK style bullet pictograph- that`s just a personal wish.

Since this sounds like an interseting rifle I thought I`d bump this thread and add a link to a thread a new owner posted on another forum.
