Anyone try a TUFFPAK

Re: Anyone try a TUFFPAK

No experience with Tuffpak, but I have a very hard time moving away from Pelican and Storm.

I have sent and received guns in Pelican and Storm cases and watched my match rifle take a "hammer throw" across the tarmac while in a Pelican 1750. No zero shift and just some new rash on the case.

If it's something I care about, it flies in a Pelican or Storm.

I own a tuffpak but have not used it before (trip did not eventuate). You put your rifle in a dragbag and then it has room to pack your clothes around. Good concept, good for the one rifle traveller and takes your clothes as well, also low key....could be golf clubs etc. Well built nad gets good reviews.

Re: Anyone try a TUFFPAK

The only problem with that (here in the USA) is when TSA pulls all your stuff out to inspect, you have no way of making sure they carefully pack it all to protect your rifle. It's going to get jammed back in as quick as possible with a "courtesy note".

At least with cut foam there is only one way for the rifle to go back in. Even toddlers can put one piece back in a one piece puzzle.

Re: Anyone try a TUFFPAK

Agreed Lonewolf! I use a Plano Bone Collector series, which is similar to Pelican and have extra foam inserts in case I need to change the cut outs for various situations. It's the only way I trust my rifles and scopes for plane travel these days.

Re: Anyone try a TUFFPAK

I've shipped a lot of stuff including rifles in pelican cases all over. Even though most had wheels I still find the cases have been dragged across concrete on opposite edge from the wheels, maybe from angry shipping company employees. Needless to say the cases have been abused and beaten but everything inside comes out just like it went in. Go pelican.
