I've been having a hell of a time getting reloading stuff together for .338LM lately. My lee hand primer wouldn't work for .338LM so I ordered a RC Supreme Auto Prime only to find out it wouldn't work on my RC II press.

I just ordered this model and am trying to find out how people like it. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=457599

From the looks of it I pretty sure it will work for .338LM

Love it! I prime all my rifle stuff with it! I picked a back up off Ebay a few years back and it's still in the box!

A few tips!

1) Stick the cotter pin that keeps the primers from falling out the bottom into the priming unit in the top of the tube so it does not get lost on your bench!

You can also use that pin to push the last primer you pick up off the tray down into the tube with care!

2) Use the pin the tighten the priming cups into the rams prior to each session.

See attached photos.

PS: A good purchase!

Thanks a bunch for the info suasponte. Are you able to prime very fast with these? How does it compare to a hand primer?

Re: Anyone use the RCBS Automatic Bench Priming Tool?

Its just as fast as my Sinclair hand priming unit I use at the range! I like the feel of how it seats the primers better than the hand unit!

Push the handle down and the tube tips forward into the cup placing a primer. Then drop the handle allowing the tube to drop back and the primer cup to fall below the top of the shell holder. Place a case into the shell holder and press the handle down until you feel the primer bottom out and repeat.

I can do a case every 2-3 seconds and that is not rushing!

If you prime lots of cases, it's probably the best unit available. Good sensitivity and your hand doesn't tired. If using Wolf Primers, that are a little stiff going in, you will appreicate the ease of installation.

Here is another tip if you have the RCBS auto prime unit!

If you are using Winchester or CCi primers you need not use a primer tray to load the primer tubes! Pluck them straight out of the suppliers supplied trays. It is a hell of a lot faster and eliminates a step.

This also works with the Dillon tubes also!

Wolf primers have to be flipped, they are packed anvil up.

Re: Anyone use the RCBS Automatic Bench Priming Tool?

Worked great up until recently when it 'ran dry' whilst priming some Winchester brass with abnormally small primer pockets (so small I can't even fit a uniformer in there). Now the rod that seats the primer is stuck in the pocket of a case. Looks like no easy way around complete disassembly (and possible sacrifice of the case...)

The Forster Co-Ax primer tool is also a good option. Less flip-flopping around, and adjusts to nearly any size case head... even .338 LM. Not as quickly as snapping in a new shell holder, though.

Every once in awhile I show a glimmer of sentient thought! I remember the day I made that video. A buddy of mine that has reloaded for about 20yrs+ stopped by to pick up his stash that I picked up at Pats Reloading. I noticed him shaking his head and laughing as I loaded my primer tube with a sleeve of Winny's!

He said "SHIT, I have been loading for X years and that never crossed my mind to do that".

So, I made this and posted it a while back on another forum.

Sometimes what is obvious to you is not so to others. LOL!

Hope it helps! Remember: "WORK SMART! NOT HARD!"

I only recently had to start using a flip tray! Damn WOLF's!!
