Thinking I am needing a .45 and I am looking at this along with the Glock 21SF. I will be trying a Glock soon but don't have any access to a XD so figured I would ask and see if anyone has any feedback. Thanks.
i had the XDm 5.25 competition in 45. i loved it. 1.5" [edit: 10 shot groups] groups at 25 yds, from a support. free hand, forget it, but that's just me.
but....i traded for a 9mm model due to the cost of the ammo. the 9mm sucked. i couldn't his shit. so i sold that.
i wish i would have kept the 45.
i am not sure what the difference was, of why the 45 was so much more accurate.
I've got an XDm 5.25 in 45. That freakin' ugly ass hunk of plastic is pretty awesome. I personally hate that something so ugly runs so well. I shoot this auto a lot, and I shoot on the clock a lot. It won't match my very fine 1911 for doubletap splits, but it will match it in transition splits and come close in any 10 round course. The high cap mags (18 rounds from canyon creek) are an obvious advantage in longer courses. It is very accurate and very reliable. It runs 230 fmj, 200 swc, and 200 rnfp w/o issues.
This is my go-to gun. It is bone stock (except for Talon grip tape) and I shoot it as well or better than any of my other autos. I'm average size and the grip feels big but doesn't seem to slow me down. My 6'7" buddy loves the way it fits his hand so much he bought one also. We both agree they're the "go to battle pistols" (ie weekend warrior at the range) for each of us.
