The books say it's capable of some pretty good speeds.

I just tried it with 155 A-Maxes and the speeds and pressures were...badly more than they should have been. Going to re-test.

The Reloading Depot .308 thread has a few loads with 175s and 168s, didn't notice any 155 loads.

I used it several years ago with some pulled milsurp bullets. I don't remember the powder chg, but I am sure I took it from the Sierra Manual. With that bullet, it did good work- especially for a trigger-time plinking load. I somehow ended up with 8#s of it and had to have something to do with it.

Soon, I may try it under some of the 155 SMKs.

I like the powder. It's useful to have on hand for a lot of applications. I used to run it under 168 gr SMK for the short line. It shot well, easy to measure and burned clean.

I never tried it with 155s but here are Hodgdons guidelines:

155 GR. SIE HPBT Hodgdon BL-C(2) .308" 2.775" 45.0 2658 37,500 CUP 48.0 2867 49,600 CUP

I mostly use 4895 now.

I have used the powder and its really good stuff... Measures great! Its very consistent and is a little less to buy. If your looking at trying a new powder its a great one to try.

42.7 gr of blc2 in my hk msg90 clone with 155 smk shoots good but iam going to work on the load in the near future but thats a starting point for ya

I've shot close to 22# of it through 54R, 8x57 and (probably 18/22#) through a 30-06. It shoots well, not particularly dirty, and very consistent. It meters like water, WAY nicer than anything in a stick powder.

I did shoot some of it in a 308 last year with 155's and I remember something in the 47.5gr range being my max. They were cooking out of a 24" barrel, running close to 2900 fps on a warm summer day, but the accuracy ran around 47.0gr. Don't quote me on those numbers, I did very little shooting in a 308 with it, but it does shoot very well.

What velocity? That load sounds pretty light for 155s.

I had a 3.5 inch group at 100 yards at 2969 fps from a 22-inch barrel. QL said it was good, and it was something like .3 grain over the usually super-conservative Sierra manual. Definitely not safe.
