I have been thinking of switchin to blackhorn in my encore. I have heard good things about it, and i am trying to avoid crude ring build up I get with triple seven. Has anyone hear tried it?

Yes, switched over to it last year in my encore. It shoots as clean as they say and when you do clean the bore it doesnt take much time or effort.

I shot it for the first time the other afternoon. I shot it in my Knight LRH. I did have to change my plunger and breech plug in order to shoot it(according to the powder company). I bought the Lehigh conversion.
I shot over 25 shots the other afternoon. The groups I shot were very good.
But the best part was that I did not have to clean between shots. And I shot over 20 shots without running a single patch down the bore. And did not have any problem with the bullets loading hard.
Plus no crud ring. And best of all it does not have the severe hygroscopic property that Triple-7 has. I swore off T-7(junk) a few years back and went back to straight black powder. But now I am going to use the Blackhorn in my LRH.
The main problem with the BlackHorn is the cost. It is very expensive. But I believe I am going to buy a 5# cannister once I shot the two canisters I bought the other day. I actually have a third cannister that a friend gave me the other day. He went to Gander Mountain and the counter person told him he could shoot the BH is his MK-85 with #11 ignition(which you can't do). Tom.

I switched last year. Shooting a TC. Good grouping. No cleaning between shots. Barrel is easier to clean after shooting and I don't have to maintain different cleaning supplies. Only detractor is it is not pellets.

Another recommendation for BH 209. 110 grains behind a 250 grain Thompson Center Shockwave has given me a 1" three shot group at 200 yds before -- out of my T/C Triumph.
Super clean shooting, and clean your barrel with standard Hoppes #9 (no water based shit going into your barrel to clean it).

I had heard these rumors, but not seen so many "Ayes". I think its time to switch from T7. Just seems like you almost have to run a few swabs between shots with T7 so that you don't need a sledge hammer to seat the next sabot.

You will love the black Horn 209. Better velocity, easier clean up, no smoke, and if you do your load development correctly it will allow you to shoot farther with less drop.

This has been my 3rd season using BH209. I weigh all my loads. Good stuff, and yes it smokes. Kinda like a white color smoke.

I started using it this year, CVA Optima,110g BH209 and a 250g Thor bullet...put 3 in same hole, 4th was a inch low so I dry patched bore and 5th shot was bout 1/4-1/2" to the right of the first 3.
Super clean(considering what it is) clean up in minutes with Hoppes #9...I wont shoot any other blackpowder substitute.
I heard stories about hang fires or misfires and drilled out the flash hole to .035 from the standard .028(I believe) and use a standard 209A Federal primer with no issues at all...it always goes bang.
