I was wondering if anyone was using heavier grain bullets in their 308, such as Sierra's 200 HPBT or 210 HPBT, Bergers 210 Match target VLD or Bergers 210 Target BT long range. I was wondering if anyone was using these, what success they had, especially atlonger range and any load data anyone would care to share.
Thanks marty

208 AMAX with a pinch of RL15 produces 2650 fps. Stays supersonic out to well over 1300 yards.

Thanks guys,I had read into the 208amax, but since I have some 200 sierra and 210 BT bergers, I figured I would work with those first. Set aside some new Lapua and Win brass for this, rifle has 1/10 twist with 24 inch barrel to work with. Figured a heavier bullet with a good bc would cut the wind a little better, we will have to see.

I'm using 208 amax's in my 20" getting 2620 on my last outing but that was entirely too hot, had pressure signs, I think the new lot of powder was a bit hotter than the last.

I'm going to back off down to about 2500fps and i'll still get great results.

You are correct in your assumptions about cutting the wind better. I was out last week shooting 800yards in stupid wind conditions (meaning they weren't that predictable) and the other shooter was using 2-4moa of wind correction, I ended up only needing about 1-1.5moa correction, he was using 155 Scenars at 2850.

They carry a lot of energy to the target for a long ways.
