Old boring laser
New pimped out laser
A huge THANK YOU, goes out to APA, Kasey at Accushot and Todd and Tom at Manners for the fastest rebuild ever!
Last month I sent in my barreled action into APA to yank off my old Broughton that served me well for 3300 rounds and install a Rock that I had for when the barrel went south. I was quoted by Jered and Mark about a 2-3 week turnaround time on a rebarrel. I kinda blew it off as we all know that high demand smiths are super duper busy and that stuff comes in that needs immediate attention getting our stuff pushed back. Well, that is my expectation at least and I am fine with that, as I know my shit will be done right and I hate it when people rush me and I will not put a rush on others. About 2 to 2.5 weeks go by and I get a call from APA. My barreled action is ready! WTF, are you serious? I really thought it was a joke they were playing on me when they said it was done. Looks like Mark is turning things around at APA and they are getting stuff out the door fast. I think it helped that I didn't need to order anything, almost everything was labor (chamber, thread muzzle and paint) except for I wanted a LB brake installed. No group pics, but is it really needed? APA built it!
Onto the paint. As many of the other shooters that shoot with me know, I am one picky bastard when it comes to the looks of a rifle. Yes, I know looks is not everything, but for my money, I want it to look good too. Well, to me at least.
I contacted Todd over at Manners for his turnaround time on multicam paint job. It was one of the few camo patterns that I actually like. I knew it would take some time to do as there are about 6 different colors that needs to be used for the finish. I was kinda anxious about how it would come out. I have seen other multicam paint jobs that I wasn't too thrilled about, but it wasn't painted by Todd. Needless to say, I couldn't be happier with the way the stock came out!
The last thing I sent off was my Atlas bipod for the upgrade from V7 to V8. Well, I almost forgot about it and sent it in about a week and half after the barreled action and stock went out. I wasn't expecting it back so soon since I think I read somewhere that the new V8s were delayed a little. No biggie, I have a crappy Harris that I can use in the mean time. I guess it was for only the new ones since I got the upgrade back in about a week. And for anyone on the fence about upgrading, DO IT!!!
Sorry for long winded post, and post about timelines. I am a project manager and everything is timed!
