Shooters,

The April Idaho PPTR match will be held Sunday, April 6th at Parma Rod and Gun Club . The setup will begin at 8:00am , the sign-up and match will begin shortly after the set-up is complete. The match fee is $15.00/shooter and the round count will be a maximum of 70. Just as an reminder there is a caliber limit of .323 or 8 mm and a maximum velocity of 3100 fps for the weapon of your choice. Both gas and bolt action weapons are welcome. Again this month, there will be some movement during this match so bring a pack or bag to carry your gear. Don't forget to pack your field glasses and rifle sling.

Are these still going on monthly?

Yes. There was one yesterday. The next one scheduled is for Saturday Nov. 1st. However, the State PRS match is the following week, so I don't know if the match on Nov. 1st will get cancelled or not because of the State PRS match the following week.

You can check Parma Rod and Gun clubs calendar for dates Calendar or Idaho Practical PrecisionTactical Rifle - Home

I would like to get out and check these out. I have never shot a match but would like to give it a shot sometime soon.

We'd love to have you come out! The PRS matches are a lot of fun and will challenge you with a lot of different shooting positions at ranges from 25 yards to 1000 yards. Once in a while maybe 1200 yards.

We also have what we call LRTR shoots, which are more of a team type competition, where you combine a spotter with a shooter, and you take turns being each. If you don't have a partner, one will be provided at the match. These are also a lot of fun also and involve more land navigation using map and compass, GPS, etc.

There's also the "Mile Shoots", in which we start at around 1500 yards and move out to 2200 yards, although lately we've been pushing 2400 to 2600 yards.

Those all sound great. I may be somewhat limited by platform in the Mile Shoots, as im running a .308 but ive been able thus far to reach out to 1250 and be somewhat consistent.

If there are more of these upcoming, perhaps I will drive out and watch one before entering myself. I would most certainly be in the bottom of the running.
