I cant decide between a 16" barrel or a 20" I would like to shoot to about 6-800 yards. will the 16 work well or do i need a 20 for that range. any pics are welcome.
White Oak built me a 6 Rat that loved 600 yards. How well it shot you wouldn't believe even the pics of the groups. With either 87 Vmax or 105 Amax, that upper shoots better than most of us.
I know you are asking about big chassis AR, but I'm jus' sayin', as they say.
if it's going to solely be a range rifle i'd take the 20. otherwise 16. all other things equal the weight difference isn't that much and another 100fps does come in handy when you get out to 800 (and beyond).
Unless your walking with the rifle all day or foresee using it in tight spots I'd go with the 20. I have not tried anything past 300 yds but My AR-10 is a real tack driver and doesn't seem to care what I feed it. I think you get just a touch more versatility with the 20.
Either way you go my bet is you'll want another. They are awesome!
