I have a Anschutz unturned barrel blank that I would like to make into a full diameter AR 15 barrel. What all is needed to make this happen, parts and specs? A friend has a lathe and milling machine, I just need some direction.

What are your plans for the finished product? Rim fire ARs don't do anything particularly well IMO. If all you have is the barrel you come out way ahead by just getting a dedicated rim fire upper.

I would like to have a heavy AR 22LR upper to use for long range silhouette and ABRA. I also have a CMMG conversion bolt and handguard. I think all I would need is a barrel extension and maybe a CMMG collar.

Rimfire or centerfire? Rimfire is different ID than centerfire.

You'll need a barrel nut, drill hole for gas port if centerfire... so we were posting at the same time,... No need for the gas port obviously

I think the reason 22rf conversions don't do so well is your shooting rf in a 1/8 ish twist and normal is 1/16 ?

Looks like to me that is what @Sixgunjeff is trying to fix.

Please advise.

I am not aware of a 22rf AR barrel extension... It needs to be machined directly into the barrel....So you have to start out with a large enough OD blank to accomdate for machining the barrel extension/shoulder into the barrel. Keystone Accuracy sells match grade AR15 22LR uppers and barrels using the CMMG Bolt Only. I have one in 12.5" and its extremely accurate with CCI SV. Uses standard AR15 upper and lower and Black Dog 22LR magazines. Keystone sells them as side chargers as well.

The barrel extension threads on the barrel it is not machined from the barrel.

I've seen plenty of Rimfire AR barrels with the barrel nut on there. But I'm guessing that the all-in-one machine is probably cheaper the machine then buying Barrel nuts cutting a thread then pinning it

They all use a barrel nut to secure the barrel to the receiver ... we are talking about a barrel extension...two different things.... you dont pin a barrel nut to a barrel
