I am going to try my hand at reloading some precision rounds for a couple ARs. It never dawned on me that I dont have any hard military primers. All i have for small rilfe is Remington Bench Rest primers. Any issues using these in a semi auto? Other than, of course, it may be a waste of good primers.

I have used them in my AR before without problems. But my standard load is with regular Winchester SR primers. Primers specifically for benchrest usually have a lighter "flash" to ignite the powder column. I wouldn't use them for "ball" type powders as sometimes these can be difficult to get good ignition.

Good luck.

I plan to use Varget.

Yes, they are GTG, no problem....they have a slightly harder cup that works great in ar's...also in 6.5Gren in ar.

I use them for all my target/varmint loads with TAC and Varget. Along with a dozen or so other powders both ball and stick. Never had a problem. Brands used include CCI, Rem and Wolf. I use regular SR for my SHTF and plinking loads. Same powders.

After you find a good load, you'll want to fine tune it by trying different primers. If you can find them, of course.
