AR10/AR15 height of the rail over bore?

Re: AR10/AR15 height of the rail over bore?

The DPMS LR is about .150" higher than an AR15.

So you need shorter rings on the big gun to match your cheek weld on the AR15.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question off the top of my head. If someone doesn't answer, PM me and I will measure both for you tomorrow sometime.

If you just need it for a ballistics program, just use 2.5" (scope height over bore) and that will be close enough.

Is that also the height of the A2 sight over bore for an AR15? I know the AR10 rail is supposed to be .1" higher than an AR15 rail.

Thanks.

Re: AR10/AR15 height of the rail over bore?

If A2 sights are 2.5" over bore and 1.4" over the rail (if I remember correctly), then top of the rail ought be 1.1" over bore on the AR15 (1.2" on the AR10) Could this be right?

IF all that is correct, then the 1.41" high LaRue LT158 mount should put my Nightforce F1 3.5-15 at 2.61" over bore, right?

Thanks again.

Thanks. I've got some new info: AR15.com has an FAQ for AR10s that says the rail height over bore is 1.318". The LaRue LT-158 is 1.41 over the rail. So the scope has got to be 2.729" right? Am I missing anything?
