Hello all,

I’m trying to get all my research done before black Friday for ar15 pistol scope. Previously, I tried a red dot without a focal adjustment on my first rifle and unfortunately with astigmatism I can barely see anything about 50 yards. I’m almost done with my AR15 pistol (11.5 barrel) build and I’m preparing for the scope this upcoming black Friday.

I have done some reading on the internet on which is the best scope for a person with astigmatism and I’m getting mix results. Some recommends LPVO (1-4 or 1-6), others says prism and the rest is a combo of magnification+red dot. Currently, I’m contemplating on getting either of the 3 which have focal adjustment.

Vortex spitfire 1x or 3x
Vortex 1-4 SFP

Thanks in advance,

Check out the Primary Arms LPVOs. They go from 1-6x to 1-8x and probably have the best BDC reticles right now. They have both first and second focal plane options. I have a slight astigmatism and red dots where a no go for me. I don't think I looked at prism scopes. I'm building an AR pistol and will probably be going to go with the Primary Arms SFP 1-6x or 1-8x with the ACSS Raptor reticle.

Are you going to use a 'brace?' Is eye relief an issue? I have a slight case of astigmatism, not bad enough to get blobs instead of dots, but less clear than a sharp dot. I get the clearest reticle and best view with my EOTechs. But anything else with a circle dot is far clearer for me than a dot alone. The only prismatic scope I tried was the Burris AR-332 and it was crystal clear with a great reticle.

The small dot RDS work very well for me with a strong astigmatism. Holosun, Sig Romeo. My Eotech unfortunately looks like a Christmas wreath. I have a Strike Eagle that looks fine.

I have an astigmatism, but on my AR Pistol I run the Holosun red dot (with the Primary Arms ACSS reticle, model 503g I think?). It seems to work fine with my astigmatism. I've been thinking about picking up the Primary Arms 1x Prism though, to see if it's noticeably better.

I also run the PA Platinum 1-8x on my POF Revolution. I love that scope. Overkill for a pistol though, I'd get a lighter 1-4 or 1-6 for a pistol if I was going the LPVO route on that. It really depends on the intended use though. I use my full-size ARs for 3gun, where a 1-6 or 1-8 LPVO is necessary. On my pistol I just run a red dot, if that didn't work I'd run a 1x prism, as I'm not trying to hit small/far targets with that and I like it small & light. I've been thinking about adding a magnifier but we'll see.

Kindof rambling but hope it helps.

I have installed a SBA3 brace, since I can't afford the paper work on the SBR. I'll probably start looking for LPVO (1-6) either Vortex or PA. Thanks again for sharing all for your experiences on my question.

Old eyes suck and with out adjustable diopter those eotechs, redots and acogs are only good for throwing at someone for me. I went the VCOG route and its like I have prefect vision again.
