ARC Xylo Chassis ?

Looking for some input on the ARC Xylo chassis. I have been eyeballing the chassis for a while but haven’t been able to get my hands on one to try. My experience is limited to a MPA Comp, XLR Envy Pro, and KRG Bravo chassis. I have small hands, so my main concern is the grip area. I have been happy with the grips on (2) MPA’s I have owned, as well as the grip on the KRG Bravo. Just looking to try out something new.

How does the grip compare to the MPA/KRG Bravo (distance to trigger, etc.)?

What is the fore end length?

Do the adjustments in the rear rattle or do they lock up solid?

Likes or dislikes compared to other options.

If you don't like the grip distance, change it. It's wood.
Rear locks up solid. Buttpad, cheek piece, everything.
Like the quick LOP adjustment, feel in hand, "inexpensive" internal weights.
Dislike the forend length, wish it was longer.

I have pretty small hands and never really had a problem with the standard grip. I want to get a set of 'blanks' at some point and carve one for shits and giggles but there's nothing wrong with the standard one.

Stock locks up tight and adjustments are very decent. I can measure the fore end tomorrow. I find it adequate, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it was a touch longer.

Downers:
Cheek piece is great in one direction, sucks if you have to shoot off handed. I 3d printed a new one that more or less copies a Manners.
Butt pad started cracking/splitting. I made a new one from a generic 1/4" Pachmeyer pad.

Overall been very happy with it and I typically do not enjoy chassis. I come from Manners T2, T4, etc... stocks and still really prefer them in most cases. However, for competition use the XYLO has a bunch of features that cost extra or aren't possible with traditional stocks, and it feels more like a traditional stock than most chassis. Glad I got in on the pre-order pricing.

P.S. The magazine well and magazine catch are the single best AICS style setup I have ever seen by a LOT.

I have an MPA, an MDT LSS and I'm waiting on an ARC Xylo.

The MPA is nice but I think my Arca rail is a bit wide, my Cyke Pod barely grips the dovetail. Beside that, lots of features but also it's 6061 and Cerakote.

My MDT LSS is the bottom of the line, probably not representative of better MDT chassis, a little bit blockier than my MPA, it had some burrs they Cerakoated over and some of the Cerakote has even worn away from getting moved around my work area a bit. It's 6061 too.

The ARC Xylo is 7075 and hard coat anodized with a lot of features comparable to the MPA but possibly more ergonomic, I'm looking forward to it. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

I think the Xylo is a great chassis. The grip to trigger distance is shorter than any other chassis or stock not using a pistol grip, with the exception of the MPA Matrix. The adjustments are quick and everything is really solid. It’s a very flexible system with great ergonomics for the most part and very nicely engineered. Everything feels really robust, screws are large, machining is superb. This is in stark contrast to some other very popular chassis systems where things seem really hacked together. My only criticisms are the cheek piece and recoil pad are both pretty thin, flat, and hard. It’s not an issue for my Vudoo but with more recoil becomes a bit unpleasant.

I personally like the thin, flat cheek piece. It really let's you lock your cheekbone down. I don't know if its the 7075 alloy, or the design, or both, but the Xylo shoots with a solidity that is hard to describe. I love how you have unrestricted access behind the grip to rest your thumb wherever you want. Also agree that the mag well and release are brilliant...the feel with ARC mags is sublime.

Yeah the cheek piece is OK. The recoil pad really needs a redesign and then the system will be perfect.

I love both of my Xylo chassis as well. I picked up a second one earlier this year to build a "B" gun. Both of my chassis' have extremely solid lock up. I'm shooting NRA HighPower matches and I adjust the butt stock for each different position, so mine gets moved around a lot, length, height and rotation of the butt pad, cheek piece....all of it locks back up solid.

As far as the length of the forend, if you want it to be longer ARC sells ARCA and Pic extensions now so that you can have your bipod out further if you desire.

I have very large hands, really boney hands, but big and long fingers. I have the large grip on both chassis and I use a Tubb T7T trigger with an adjustable trigger shoe pushed all the way out. It is very comfortable. I do not like the vertical grips and AR style grips that many chassis have - they just don't work for the games I play. The Xylo feels very natural to me, like a McMillan/Manners/Foundation/J Allen stock.

I own one and use it for a RimX. Fit and feel is great with solid lockup and no wiggle anywhere. I have medium hands and it puts my trigger finger into just the right spot. Magazine latch is great.

The only downside I can think of is that the butpad is narrow and somewhat hard so that if I was running something with high recoil (e.g., 300 PRC) I might be looking for a way to swap out the recoil pad.

Overall I am very happy with mine. If Ted comes out with a folding version I would be very tempted to buy it and sell off my KRG Whiskey-3.

Going to disagree with a few on here. I think the recoil pad is plenty soft & I really like the narrow pad. Helps me keep a more vertical head posture.
That one is 6.5 creedmoor.
I'll re evaluate recoil pad comfort when I get the long action 28 Sherman finished.

My gripe with the long action is that ARC kept the same OAL and robbed 1 x m lock slot for the action length. As a result the LA takes 1 less internal and external weight kit. So LA is down 1-1/2 lbs from the SA. Why ARC...............Why??? Just add 1 more m lock to both.

Hell I flipped the recoil pad over on my Manners MCS TCS. Felt way to wide after running the Xylo.

The Xylo is a very comfortable and adjustable chassis.

My first chassis was from the initial pre-order (wish I ordered two at that time). The second chassis was bought this spring. The newer pad is definitely different. The newer one seems softer and it seems like a different compound.

I have owned many chassis and stocks (MDT, MPA, XLR, KRG, Manners, Foundation......). I just replaced my foundation with a Xylo and shot it for the first time today. I love the design, ergonomics and quality. Time will tell but it has the potential to be my favorite so far.

I bought one for my 308 build, took it to the comprehensive precision rifle course at K&M last month. I don't like the cheek rest, it gets a lil slippery and the flat becomes uncomfortable after some time. I dont like the squared buttstock pad either. I also don't like the grip, i sanded mine down and its bearable now but thats not a huge deal since you can just make one if you choose. Im going to sell it and switch to an MPA matrix or BA. The machining quality and other features on the chassis are great, its just a personal fit/feel kind of thing for me.

I bought my Xylo on a whim. I really like the look and the design engineering that went into it. I have only been using it on my Vudoo & RimX. I absolutely love it and think I would like a second for my CF. I wish it had a dual cheek piece for weak side shooting. I wish it was about 2" longer on the forearm. The adjustability and only having 1 tool to adjust it all is a game changer in my book. I would like to have a little more time behind an ACC to compare as it was my second option for my build.

I got my Xylo chassis last week.

First a bit of background.
I've owned a KRG Bravo, KRG X-Ray, MDT ACC, MPA BA Comp and a Manners T5-A in the past. More recently I got an MDT XRS and I really like the ergonomics of the XRS, so much so that i replaced a few of the above with XRS's

For my new build I wanted something with the ergonomics of the XRS but a step up in quality and on paper the Xylo certainly looked like it would be that.

Now that I have the Xylo i'm very pleased with it. I love the quick adjust LOP and cheek riser, yet they are both rock solid when set. The standard grip is good. I love being able to rest my thumb vertically on the centerline. It does feel a little square and angular but it's not uncomfortable.
The standard grip is a tad small for my large(ish) hands so I have the large grip coming in the mail.

I hope it shoots as good as it feels.

If anyone is interested in a more traditional comb / cheek riser profile or weak side shooting, this is an easy solution that works well. I picked up a KRG overmolded cheek rest for $30 or so. It will mount directly onto the Xylo aluminum plate with almost no hassle and no permanent modifications to anything. To mount it up I picked up (2) M4 x 20mm socket head cap screws and the nuts for em. I also added washers to use as shims initially because the m10? screws that mount the aluminum bracket to the Xylo interfered with the krg cheekrest a bit. I have access to a mill so I ended up just clearancing the bottom of the krg cheek rest and now it sits flush with no washers however the washer solution worked just as well, its just not as pretty. Its solid as a rock and in my opinion is a huge improvement over the more angular cheekpiece on the Xylo. It does add a step in that you have to remove the KRG cheek piece in order to access the screws for the aluminum plate, but this isnt really an adjustment I ever mess with unless im removing it for cleaning so it doesn't bother me much.

Just got out this last weekend with a new RimX setup in the Xylo. For me, the Xylo fit me better than the MDT ACC that I have my 6GT in. All around it just felt comfortable for me and I liked the adjustment ease. I'm on the shorter side of LOP and also the distance to trigger seemed shorter than the MDTs. I did notice it's a bit lighter than the ACC so I'll need to get some weights when I move my 6GT in to the Xylo chassis. I'll shortly be listing 2 MDT ACC chassis for sale as I'll be using Xylos instead.

I also come from an ACC to the Xylo, except my intermediate step was the MDT XRS.
I was never 100% comfortable with the ACC or MPA BA Comp. It wasn't until I bought an XRS as a budget friendly chassis for a Tikka that I realized what it was about the ACC that didn't gel with me.
I just don't feel comfortable with underhanging AR style grips. Just a personal preference thing.
I prefer the grip area of the XRS and find it far more comfortable and ergonomic.
For my new build I wanted those ergonomics in a quality chassis and the Xylo looked like it would be a good choice.
I've had my Xylo for a few months but my action and barrel have been held up.
Just by handling the empty Xylo I can tell that i'm going to like it when the build is complete.

The MDT has sometimes issue feeding the RimX when there is a bit of pressure on the bottom of the mag from barricade shooting. Hoping the Xylo mag latch system mitigates that without a big barricade block in front of the magwell. Actually, I wish all bottom metals would incorporate an overinsertion tab that would allow you to feed even with weight on the mag.

Didn't even get to shoot my Nuke Gen 2 yet. It's technically my wife's so its at the smith for a couple of weeks with a Foundation stock that needs a bit of work (was originally a 737r inlet).
I prefer the feel of the Xylo chassis with the large grip, arca/area419 rail and long foreend and she prefers the Foundation centurion so thats kind of a win-win.

Couple of things on the action/ARC rifle
1- I couldn't get it to misfeed, slow or fast, even pushing really hard on my barricade - the xylo is really good at preventing the magazine from binding and the CRF always grabs the round. Was using MDT DSSF 10 rnd magazine but seriously considering getting 1 ARC for testing and 1 MDT 3 round for hunting.
2- Single round feeding is a non-issue
3- The bolt lift was fairly light and smooth - once I changed the 25lbs spring to 19lbs spring. Nicer than my DTA - about as good as my Defiance which is pretty impressive considering the Nuke Gen 2 is a 3lug.
4- The flush arca extension on the xylo is very nice and well done - the forearm is already quite long so im not sure if I'll end up using it - maybe for bench shooting.
5- It's my first ARC action so I was fumbling quite a bit to do the striker spring swap - I bough the ARC tool and it was still a pain but now that I've done it once, I kinda get it. I still found the docs and videos lacking. With 4 hands its infinitely easier.
6- I really really like the bolt handle - had no issues lifting and cyling thebolt with 1 finger between the dumbell.
7- I also like that you don't need to put the barrel in a vise, since it has 1-1/8 wrench cuts.
8- I swapped the included Trigger tech special for a Trigger Tech 2 stage. Nothing wrong with the special but I like the TT 2 stage quite a bit more

I didn't have that big expectations because of some of the issues with the earlier gen but I came out very very impressed, well above expectations. That being said, I got a really good deal on it, was originally thinking about a used TL3 or a new Tenacity or Origin.

I will be using a TT special that I have in my current R700 action. So far, I like the special. I got an email tonight that my action shipped. I also purchaded the ARC magazine. I agree on the docs and video. Ted needs to have more instructions.

It feels okay but I haven't tried really loading a bipod at the end of the rail and my action is at the smith to get a foundation stock bedded ... I'm still not sold 100% on it yet because I haven't had to chance to fully test it.

Got my Xylo today and I love it. The grip really reminds me of a Bravo. Trigger reach is about the same. The whole chassis feels great and the features are awesome.

Criterion 6BR hung on a G2 Nuke. Feeds like butter from pmags and balances perfect with a 24” Med Palma.

My R700 action fits fine in my Xylo. Bolt release not an issue.

My two rem 700s don’t fit right as the xylos aren’t clearanced for the bolt release, both the length and the width, or trigger pins. The mag release is too long as well and required trimming.

This shows how much release I needed to remove, the trigger pocket is much shorter than it should be length wise.
I could grind the left to rightness out of the chassis to fit and it still rubs and you can feel it deflecting along the side of the chassis but it’s at least possible now.

I dont have the extension from ARC, but I did make my own very close copy of it, also with a single screw. Its rock solid because It locks into the chassis on a taper, which positively locates it & makes it very stable even with only one screw. Id be more worried about the aluminum itself flexing than the attachment point failing or bending in any way. It should work just fine if you're willing to pay the steep price.

That's for the magazine stop screw if you go to the parts list its item 48 and when I talked to American Rifle they're saying with some magazines if the magazines inserted in hits the action by inserting those screws that come with it that prevents that from happening

After months of waiting for bureaucracy to catch up I finally got my action for my pending build. A Falkor Defense 7even.

When I placed the action into the Xylo chassis I discovered that it doesn't fit properly despite both the action and chassis being R700 footprint.
The problem is that the action is rounded at the bottom and becomes flat sided into and almost octagonal shape for the upper 2/3rd. The corner where the round meets the flat was just too wide for the round profile of the chassis' bedding area so it wouldn't properly seat into the chassis.
If i torqued the bolts the rear tang would start to bend and bind the bolt. It also meant the action was riding a little high and while it seemed to pickup the rounds ok the mags were a bit loose.

I was bummed that I might not be able to use the Xylo. I really really like this chassis. I love the ergonomics of it and there is no other chassis out there that I'm even interested in using.

I thought about it for a couple of days and measured it at least a dozen times. I was even seriously considering trying to source another action, before i came up with the solution.

I don't have access to a mill so jigged up my dremel with router attachment and ran a ball cutter along the line where the chassis was interfering with the receiver. This allowed the action to drop down and properly sit in the bedding area. The cut is completely invisible when the action is mounted.

After months of waiting for bureaucracy to catch up I finally got my action for my pending build. A Falkor Defense 7even.

When I placed the action into the Xylo chassis I discovered that it doesn't fit properly despite both the action and chassis being R700 footprint.
The problem is that the action is rounded at the bottom and becomes flat sided into and almost octagonal shape for the upper 2/3rd. The corner where the round meets the flat was just too wide for the round profile of the chassis' bedding area so it wouldn't properly seat into the chassis.
If i torqued the bolts the rear tang would start to bend and bind the bolt. It also meant the action was riding a little high and while it seemed to pickup the rounds ok the mags were a bit loose.

I was bummed that I might not be able to use the Xylo. I really really like this chassis. I love the ergonomics of it and there is no other chassis out there that I'm even interested in using.

I thought about it for a couple of days and measured it at least a dozen times. I was even seriously considering trying to source another action, before i came up with the solution.

I don't have access to a mill so jigged up my dremel with router attachment and ran a ball cutter along the line where the chassis was interfering with the receiver. This allowed the action to drop down and properly sit in the bedding area. The cut is completely invisible when the action is mounted.

Did you by any chance call ARC first to see if they had knowledge of fitment issues with that particular action? Just curious. Definitely a ballsey move to take the dremel to a $1200 chassis, id be nervous doing that in a mill. Glad it worked out. I do wonder why ARC went with a radiused bed instead of a V bed. I'd be curious to see some pics of the action in it now, or half-way in to kind of see where the interference was
