I have two rifles with arcalock rails and my bipod has the arcalock clamp. I was out doing some testing today things started off good under 1/2 moa. Then they started to get worse shooting same load. Couldn't figure out what was going on. Figured I was me. Last group I really tried to shoot the best group I could 3 in one hole 2 fliers. I picked up my rifle to put it away and the bipod was loose on the rail. Damit. This is the second time I have had that happen. Arcalock seems like a good concept but if you don't get the pins lined up things can loosen up. Anyway thinking of removing the pins in the clamp and use it that way. Anyone else run into this issue? Suggestions?

I don't know. I tighten it. I guess you gotta wiggle it around a litle to make sure the pins are locked where they are supposed to be?

My area 419 clamp won't stay tight either, even in the notches.then igot a rrs clamp and a mpa no problem with either one

Check to see if your clamp is correctly engaging the rail. I once got a Area419 clamp that was slightly out of spec. No matter how much I cranked on the knob, it wouldn't get tight. I contacted Area419 and they issued a return and sent me a new one. New clamp works fine.

But I prefer the RRS clamps for my bipods now with the Arca/Picatinny capability. I've never had the RRS clamp slip on an Arcalock rail.

Thanks I'll try it

Me and my shooting buddy both have the same problem with the Area 419 arcalock bipod clamps and barricade stops. We have both had them work loose while shooting in practice and during matches. We were practicing Sunday with our 22's in my backyard and it happened with his 22. He was trying to shoot a good group for zero, and the group was poor. When he finished he noticed his bipod clamp had worked loose.

I have quit using my arcalock barricade stop for the same reason. With the barricade stop, if you make sure the pins are in the recess of the rail, then tighten it pretty tight, the recoil from the rifle will push the pins of the barricade stop up on the notches of the rail and you have to hammer it loose, and if you don't tighten it up real tight it moves. The pins are a good idea, but they don't work very well.

Saw the same thing with my 338 this past weekend. Kept working loose, kept cranking it down. Come the end of the day and i couldn't get the damn bipod off the rail. Took it home, put a wrench on the thumbwheel and it turns out the pins had lunched the teeth on the rail. Probably going to try a normal lever instead of the fancy gold thumbwheel/knob so i can crank it down more and hope it doesn't damage the rail further.

i removed the pins as i move between KRG and 419 rails. ive never had this issue. i have a pretty strong grip and am easily able to crnk down firmly and easily.

I've thought about pulling the pins. I run the ArcaLock on my other rifles without issue and just swapped that gun over to try and get everything back to being interchangeable and it didn't like the recoil i guess.

Well, they're kinda the whole point of the system...

My rail didn't get chewed but I did have to use a Leatherman to loosen it; suspect the bevels in the teeth are acting as a wedge under recoil to lock things up. A lever type clamp with a single pin (don't really need more to stop a slide) would be best--faster and way more leverage.
I can guarantee that many people aren't using their rail. I'm using mine on MDT ACCs and other random rails. None of them have the notches.

The problem that I have is that it's an ArcaLock Clamp on an ArcaLock Rail, i would expect it to work as intended and not have to disable the key feature that sets it apart to keep it from eating itself.

I’ve never had an issue with arcalock. My RRS clamp would consistently move under recoil on a non arcalock rail so I swapped that to arcalock too.
