Are my expectations out of line?

They are sending me an overnight return label to ship the rifle back, will be giving me a new chassis in addition to the work required to fit the action, and refunding me the full costs of the chassis and services.
Let me get this straight not only are they going to replace the already worked on chassis with a new one, but they are going to refund you the full costs of the chassis also? So you in the end will be getting a free AI AX chassis and the shop is going to eat the cost of two AI AX chassis (albeit they can probably savage some cost of the first one) Are you sure you heard that right? Wow that is hard to believe. I can't lie I will be stunned if they actually do that.

It's been said by a few people now and I'm just going to jump on the bandwagon here. This is great advertising for this business. People want to give money to a business that they trust will deliver the best product, or right any wrongs. So if you end up ok on this and decide to give their name out here, you will be giving them very good publicity. Good luck sir.

wow, that's awesome on their end. I'm Glad to read about the pending outcome. sometimes a company will surprise you. I won't lose sleep over not knowing who the company is but I would return the favor if I were you and give them a awesome review somewhere. I think they deserve that at the least! awesome man.

If it were me, I would let the company know about this thread and give them the option to make themselves know if they’d like to.

Everybody makes mistakes, it’s how you bounce back from them that matters. IMO, this turned out better than could be hoped for.

If this was my company, I’d own up to the mistake, and then show how I went above and beyond to rectify it.

I’d rather subscribe to maser’s pissy diaper channel and binge watch while going face down on veer’s browneye than read through this a second time

Anyone remember the Tooth & Nail debacle at Arfcom?
Debacle Link

Executive Summary: T&N milled some slides and fucked them up. They doubled down on stupid and now Tooth & Nail is a joke on Arf.

Contrast that to what's happened here. This shop owned up to their mistake and appears to have gone above & beyond to make it right. Yes, they're eating the cost of the parts and labor, but they just created an ambassador to sing their praises. How much work will they get because the OP is posting good things about them? The other benefit to the shop is that it puts the nonsense behind them. The shop may have simply did some quick calculating "It'll cost us $X if we placate him and at least $X+Y to battle with this guy while having our name dragged through the mud on the Hide."

I work with too many clients that cling to drama that costs them money. "But it's the principle of the whole thing!" Fuck that. The principle is to make money, not to always be right.

None. The OPs not naming names. Get the pitch forks!

I find it hard to believe that any operation could let that leave the shop. I'm sorry but I would have zero confidence in that build.

Good on the owner for making the mistake right, but someone would have walking papers if that was my shop.

It reminds me of a job I had done that looked like utter hell, the owner asked me if I thought I could do better and I told him I work to pay him to do better, if I wanted amateur hour I would have done it myself. Having a sister who is a lawyer with hormonal and anger issues is a wonderful thing.

It looks like someone at the shop wasn't told when you have "Bring your kid to work day" you don't actually let them do the work!

It's a good end result for you, but understand the company is basically just bribing you to keep quiet and make this go away. You're email specifically mentions you posted the quality of their work on a forum but that you had not named their shop yet. I'll bet dollars to donuts part of your conversation/remediation with them involved an emphasis by them on how important it was that you don't name them even if it was not a direct statement to that nature.
