This is a Remington 700 SPS tactical in .308 with a Vortex 6-24X50 scope mounted in TPS medium rings on a one piece base. This base is a temporary 0-MOA base, and I have a 20-MOA base on order, that I'll be switching to. I had heard that lows or mediums would work with this scope/rifle combo, but now after seeing it... I'm thinking I should've gone with low rings. There is about .360 space between the scope cap and the barrel, and the difference in ring height is .149 according to manufacturers specs.
I plan on switching stocks to probably some chassis sytem in the near future but haven't decided which one yet. Should I go through the hassle of finding and switching to lows, which would give me about .211 of clearance between barrel and scope cap, (not accounting for the 20-MOA drop though...) or should I leave it? I get more of a "chin weld" than a cheek weld the way it is right now...
