Over the years i've seen a number of week long 1911 pistol build courses taught by master gunsmiths. and they've always intrigued me but recently i've developed a great interest in precision rifle shooting.

Wondering if such a course is offered for one to build their own bolt action rifle?

For the pistol classes some supply/include all the parts as well as providing the requisite tools and instruction, while some instructors permitted attendees to bring some parts of their choosing (within certain constraints).

I do understand that a one week course does not make one a gunsmith.

Gordy and Robert are the only two that come to mind. I think I saw on facebook where he worked with someone recently to build a rifle. He would definitely be my choice if you can get an opportunity to build a rifle with him. Like you said, it won't make you a gunsmith overnight but it would teach you some of the basics on things to pay attention to when building a rifle.

Learn to run a lathe and a mill. There has been so much good info posted on this site by the big names over the years that once you start turning you will learn what you like, figure out what works and realize where to spend your money on tooling. As chad said.. a thawed check book.. lol. Problem solving 1-0-1.

thank you for the recommendations, will contact them.

i love learning, i truly enjoy it.....if i can afford the opportunity then i will try very hard to do so.
