Turns out a chickenshit neighbor on one side thought my dog was 'killing her rabbits', as we've got about four hundred thousand wild bunnies in our neighborhood in the spring, and had pooped once about 4" over the property line in her front yard when I was out of town and my wife had let the dog out front to use the bathroom one evening.

I went over to the neighbor's house, knocked on her door, and said "I understand Jake may have pooped in your yard, I'm sorry for that happening as we don't allow him to do that, and if you ever think poop in your yard might be his come tell me and I'll happily clean it up because I want to be a good neighbor."

Her response? "The police aren't supposed to tell you I called!"

I replaced two dilapidated cedar fence lines. They both looked the same age and both were on the verge of falling down due to our high winds on the plains. Turns out one 15' privacy section belonged to the neighbor. He blew a gasket and threatened a suit. I told him WTF dude you got a new fence and the judge is going to tell you not to look a gift horse in the mouth. The motherfucker over the last 25 years can swear I'm like the wind and can sneak in and out out of his backyard like a fucking Sioux warrior stealing horses. Pretty much same here. I've had bad ones before though, I'd prefer not to have any. One that's cool and wants to share keeping eyes on each other's places --I don't bother my neighbor and he doesn't bother me, but if these alarms go off for longer than a couple seconds, it's an armed response. That kind of neighbor isn't bad. We've had no problems for almost ten years now.

Arg, that is an irritating story. I've only had a couple of issues with any of my neighbors. Once one of 'em called the cops on me because I was digging through the bed of my truck at night with a flashlight, and the other my dog was barking like an incessant little bitch while a neighbor was out gardening. The next time she caught me outside, she said she wished I'd shut that dog up. I said, "I agree, but my wife just delivered our first kid and we're kinda fucked at the moment."

Smooth sailing ever since.

I've had some really fucked up neighbors over the years, starting when I was a kid. I was the scapegoat of the neighborhood all the way up thru college. One time, this fuck across the street started an investigation on me because someone broke his windows. Cops came to my house and mom answered and told them to fuck off because I had been away at college for the last 6 months.

Got a call from my apt complex a couple months ago. I let my cats roam the hallway sometimes, just to get them a little exercise. Little fag calls the complex and complains, telling them he is deathly afraid of cats. What kind of a pussy is afraid of 2 friendly cats?

I am Blessed where I live in town. All but 2 of my neighbors are old and gray and we have been here for 18 years, neighbors longer. There is one young Grade 1 Prick down on the far corner but he stays to himself. He is the outcast and everyone is fine with that. He speaks to no one and no one speaks to him. His girl friend is a sweet person and fits in with the rest of us, just not him. All of the Old Grays that have been here for years each have keys to each others houses or know where the outside key is in case of an emergency and we have had to use them a few times.
My next door neighbor is new and young with 3 little kids and great people, we have no problems at all with them and share baked goods, veggies, etc. Life is good here in town.

Down on the farm, where I spend my summers and about half of my time otherwise it is a bit different.
We have miles separating each other, very rural, out in the Boondocks, same key system and if you fuck with one, you fuck with all.
Call each other 24/7 if you need help or you feel something is wrong or needs attention or just be aware.
We have one California move in with 10 acres and a horse that we all have tried to be nice to but they are weird. No one has any contact with them now as they like their "privvacy", well you got it, don't expect any help if something goes down.

Had any of us known what "California" was going to be like we would have bought the old place and let it go.
None of us ever expected the old dump to sell, but it did so we do have that.

About 20 something of us were in a parking lot, probably in around 5 cars or so. One of our teammates drove by and this kid bob pulls his pants down and moons the car right in public. Didn't think anything of it. Played the game, and then went home to LI for a few days. When I got home, my mom says that Nassau county cops stopped by the house looking for me, and left me a number to call. I had no idea what this was about. I called the number and this cop asks me if I was in NH in the last few days. I said yes, I was on a road trip. He then tells me that he is investigating an alleged "mooning" that took place. I thought it was a prank call. I told him I have no idea what he is talking about and have a good night.

Can you believe the audacity of this? Some cunt took my license plate down as if they witnessed a drive by shooting, reports it, and these keystone cop fucking idiots in nassau have nothing better to do? I've had a little history with these assheads over the years, and they were NEVER helpful in any case, including one time when a psycho cop nearly assaulted me for doing nothing wrong (save that for another time). I moved in to my house in December and did some shooting every once and a while but was mostly busy with projects at the new house. Well 4th of July rolled around and I was out shooting behind my house with my buddy. We maybe touched off 20 rounds combined between us with our Mosin and Mauser at about 8:30-9PM (mind you it's light until after 10PM in July).

Well about 15 minutes later after we had finished I noticed a Sheriff sitting on the road looking around for a house. I walked up to the front of my house and she pulled in. Someone had called because "it was getting pretty late...". I asked the cop who it was but they wouldn't tell me. She took down my info but said "as far as I'm concerned, you can shoot all you want!".

Well another 9 months or so go by and low and behold, my neighbor from two houses down came over to ask if I could not shoot because her husband was trying to sleep (at 5 PM). At first I was irritated by the request, then thought to myself 'well at least this neighbor had the guts to ask in person'...

Nope, come to find out when I talked to the sheriff again that she told my neighbor to go talk to me herself. The sheriff told her that if she had a problem, she could ask politely because everything I was doing is perfectly legal. Feels good to have the sheriff on my side on this one. I haven't heard from that neighbor again (and I try to be polite and not shoot when I can see her grandkids are over).

At my second house here in Cheyenne, I had a neighbor who would try to park his pick up truck in the alleyway and used my fence as a bump stop on his 47 point turn, it would punch a hole in my fence and let my stupid beagle out, sometimes it would take two days to find that retarded dog. Anyway, one day I just laid a board over the hole in the fence, looking back at it I probably should have put a screw in it, anyway my stupid neighbor as he backed into the fence the board tipped over and hit the back of his old 1982 Chevy pick up, well apparently that set him off, because he would rake all of his dirty leaves with all of his dog shit and threw it over the fence onto my side. I kind of let it slide because his house was on the market and I didn’t want to start a war that I couldn’t finish because he moved about four days after that. What a pussy LOL. Never once did he come up to me face-to-face, I tried to avoid him because I know I would end up in jail LOL.

At the same house, another neighbor directly across the alley way used to barbecue in his backyard and shoot birds with his pellet gun, while I love prairie dog shooting or coyote shooting, I have a huge problem with shooting songbirds just because they simply exist. Well the dumbass started shooting birds in my backyard and they would fall dead on the ground where my dogs would get them and bring them into the house and make a mountain of feathers of blood and guts.... I was about 80% sure of which neighbor was doing it, anyway my seven-year-old son at that time came in and told me he saw the neighbor shooting birds in our trees again, I step onto my back patio just as he lowered the rifle from dropping a bird in my backyard. I get so pissed I run down my stairs into the backyard and pick up the dead dove, go out my alleyway gate to my neighbors backyard and let myself through his gate, It looks like he had a few friends over for a barbecue, his cunt wife is staring at me with a mixture of bewilderment and loathing as a march across their back lawn with a smile on my face and a dead bird in my hand, they are barbecuing burgers on the grill and having a few mixed drinks, I walk up and placed the dead bird firmly on top of their hamburgers and say “ here, I think this is yours” As I look directly into his eyes while he is holding his pellet rifle. I didn’t say another word, turn around and March back a crossed his lawn to my house.

It’s funny because he would never wave at me again, LOL or even make eye contact. I have since moved. That was another guy I tried to avoid so I didn’t end up in jail. Lmao!

At the same previous house, I had the local police code enforcement officer show up and tell me that my half cord of stacked wood would get a ticket because it wasn’t cut to fireplace length. This happened while I was away at work and my wife was pregnant with our second, this stupid cop had my wife in tears over this stupid pile of wood. If my wife was not pregnant I was going to make that cop eat his ticket. I told my wife I was willing to go to jail over my wood that was apparently too long for a make-believe city code. But because I love my wife and she asked me not to pursue it further, I cut the wood to fireplace length and stacked it by my house.

This thread made me feel a lot better. I was so pissed, it was a good thing I had time to cool off.

I was pissed, not because this was the first time, but because the other two times officials were called, involved smoking a brisket and the (i think same person) called the fire department because they wanted to have people over to their new house and didn't like smelling the of the BBQ. What they told the fire department, was I was illegally burning trash and possibly toxic chemicals. Then the building department was called when I build a shed 100% legally, to code. Both the other times, the officials said they were obligated to investigate and actually apologized.

Funny story... Some friends of mine were over visiting my house in the suburbs and it was a nice autumn evening so we were having a good guy's evening and I built a raging fire in the stone fireplace in my back yard... The back yard is surrounded by a 7 to 8 ft privacy fence. So we were having a good old time watching the flames shoot up in the air from the tree branches and such... I guess the flames were shooting out straight up higher than the fence or something...

I go back in the house and notice flashing lights outside the front door, so I step outside and there is a fire engine outside the front door and then on the porch of my SJW neighbors house, I see the three of them (Father, mother and daughter) huddled on the porch looking like rabbits when they wonder if my dogs will chase them..

Go back to the back yard, tone down the fire a bit and then go out to talk with the fire department, ask them if they want to come take a look at the firepit in the back yard and they think about it for a moment, notice nothing is on fire, suggest keeping it a bit less Viking style and head back to the station..

The HOA is pissed at both of us because the HOA won't take action unless someone complains, and because the two of us work stuff out, we don't complain to the HOA, and we get the things we want done before the HOA even knows about it. The HOA came by and asked me about the shed in his back yard.. technically it is a violation because he didn't ask for approval, but once it was up, he said he just rebuilt the old one. Me saying "geez, I hadn't notice before now" wasn't what the HOA wanted to hear. No complaint means they can't make him do anything about his shed...

This rant is way off topic but your Wyoming story reminded me of one of my Wyoming stories. It's about a different definition of "neighbor".

My wife and I were camping near a cliff that's called Wild Iris, a bit north of Atlantic City, Wyoming. The first night on this trip was windy and fortunately, our tent was anchored well or we would have landed in Nebraska. The next morning it was way too windy to climb, like 20 to 60 knots. We were planning on staying a few more nights, so I started building a wind break. Like a 2 ton rock wall wind break, maybe 3 tons, When I was about half done, a Chevy station wagon with four German dudes pulled in and set up their tent far closer than they needed to. No biggie. Then they start taunting me about my wind wall as the same wind is blowing their trash all over Wyoming. They lost a folding chair, clothes, food packaging, etc. Slobs trashing the wilderness. I kept my fucking mouth shut and kept building my wind break. They got drunk and continued to taunt me, not knowing I understood German.

Around dinner time, one of them went and took a really stinky shit near the spot I was gathering rocks for my wall. Right near the sign pointing to the latrine. As he was dropping his drawers, I told him to go shit in the latrine and he said "fuck off". He and his cool bro buds had a good laugh at that as they filled up a pot to cook dinner in. The wind was down and their fire was no big risk. So I got a thin rock slab, scooped the poop up and took it over and dropped it into their dinner pot. Then I said "Fuck off" and walked away, all the sudden thinking that the four of them could probably kick my ass proper. Instead, they packed up their tent and other gear and drove off. Welcome to America.

I've rock climbed and mountaineered serious shit with numerous Germans, so it's not about nationality. I'd take a bullet for these brothers and sisters.

So now, as penance, I'm on my way to a two day all expenses paid vacation in Albuquerque to attend an Alternative Resolution Development symposium all by myself in the role of mediator. As for her? She has to attend one mandatory therapy session with a local shrink to determine if she wants more sessions on a voluntary basis. True story. I can't make this shit up.
