Area 419 Build: Impact 737R, PRS2, Bartlein 6.5CM

Quick post on new build and huge thanks to Area 419 team! I was back and forth between a 6.5CM and 224V bolt gun build but decided to go with new competition setup.

Craig, Simon and Jon @Area419 were awesome to work with thoughout the process and super fast turnaround! Door to door less than 2 weeks!

Build:

• Impact Precision 737R
• Manners PRS2 Area 419 Camo with Gen2 Barricade Chassis
• Bartlein 26" 7.5T M24 6.5CM cerakoted black
• Triggertech Diamond Pro Curved @1lb
• Area 419 Hellfire 6.5CM Brake
• Area 419 Arcalock 14" rail
• (3) Area 419 mag extensions

Cool personalized touch/surprise: the personalized Area 419 billet loading block cerakoted to match my barrel/action! Includes name, cartidge details, and date barrel was chambered. Super slick way to cap an awesome experience!

Also, I wanted gun metal mag extensions but they were out of stock as of Monday... Called them Monday afternoon and they said "We will see what we can do.". Rifle shipped yesterday and low and behold they made 3 gun metal extensions and shipped in less than 24 hours. AWESOME!

With scope (NF7-35 and NF rings), empty mag, bipod and ready to shoot sans ammo, 17.33lbs.

Stock shaved 2lbs over my prior build but action is a bit heavier on this one so 1.5lbs lighter than my backup gun.

I wanted to change balance point slightly further forward of mag well. My last build was close but it was about 1/2" forward of barricade stop. This stock accomplished that that by being lighter in the rear and allowing CG to move about 3" forward of barricade stop :

It's exactly centered on pint sized game changer which is 6" across the top (center is 3") just like my rifle CG:

Area 419 build very accurate guns . I had one of them with a carbon Proof barrel in 6.5 CM that I could honestly say was a 1/4 moa gun .

Doe you happen to know if the PRS2 stock has the same grip angle as the T4a?

I can only imagine that rifle will perform better then any of us can shoot.

Yep, or at least as close as I can tell. T4A black/tan and PRS2 in OD/tan camo.

Only difference in grip I can measure is widest point of grip on PRS2 is 2.15" vs 2" on T4A. It's slight, however, just noticeable and feels better to my hand. Only other meaningful angle change is slope of foreend. The PRS2 pitches the muzzle down whereas the T4A is level when sitting flat on barricades (both have same Arcalock rail installed). Pictures below.

Thanks for the info and pics. I was hoping for a slightly more vertical grip. I can't quite get that perfect 90 degree bend with my T4

I forget the name of the product, but there is a moldable slow set putty that you could use to build out the grip more vertical. It's like Steel stick but with a longer working time.

I'd buy some modeling plasticine and see if you can shape it like you want. Once you like the feel and fit, then remove it and do it again with epoxy or resin.

At least you can see how much build you would want) need.

Alternatively, get a Calvin Elite adjustable. That would almost certainly get you to 90deg trigger finger.

First groups through rifle... Not bad for first 70 rounds or so. Definitely a different feel vs T4A on my other rifle. Has a sharper recoil pulse.

Quick OCW shot well most groups at 1/2" or so. Velocities picked up towards the end of session and SDs dropped from 8-12 down to 3-7fps.

Combination of both. The mini chassis provides a much stiffer bedding block area and the way it's bedded and pinned to the shell allows vibration/recoil to be transmitted to shell faster. Add that to an already stiffer, lighter CF shell (compared to fiberglass) and recoil impulse is more noticable.

It feels much more like shooting an all aluminium chassis than a traditional Manners Composite stock.

On the reverse side, guys that shoot Foundation Stocks say they (Foundations) feel much softer to shoot. I think that is due to the way the materials handle vibration rather than purely due to weight.
