I am thinking about getting an Ares Ranger belt for both range use and general wear. I was wanting to see if anyone is currently using one or has used one and what their thoughts were on it. Please let me know the good and the bad! I will be mostly using it with a Serpa holster with the belt loop attachment not the paddle. Should I expect any issues with that? Thanks in advance for any info.

The belt is pretty stiff. You Might have some issues getting it throuth the holes in holster belt loops. I would run the paddle myself (I'm not a serpa fan), but my other holsters the paddle will stay on unless you perpusly take it off, and it is just a tight as the belt loops. The Ares belt is goog to go.

The Good: Stiff, infinatly adjustable, great looking belt that can be used as a weapon it self!

The Bad: Must remove the cobra latch to thread through holster loops, stays round when its on you... the back sticks out a bit as will the front.

Best belt I've used hands down! The extra time it takes to thread through loops is worth it. LaRue has them in stock, but not all the colors.

Great belt but the extra wrap around often does not work well with mag holders and belt loops. Might want to look at the TAB belt from Rifles Only.

    Thanks for the pic jdgray.

As far as I can tell the belt overlaps on the left side. With me being left handed I have the mags on my right front so it shouldnt bother. But none the less I have seen the RO belt (only in pics), but its a bit large for my needs. I want a more conventional belt.

    Re: Ares Ranger Belt question

Pretty sure the TAB and the Ares (as shown in the other posters picture) are the same width (1.5"), the length depends on you. I have the Ares, my buddies the TAB and they are pretty much interchangeable.

I use mine in CC which is why is why I think the overlap is a pain. I have to carry some very specific equipment under a suit coat and the overlap does affect positioning to a degree. Actually planning to go to a TAB to resolve this.

I only have maybe 6" of belt overlapped after the latch. Unless your carry in the front, it wont be an issue. The tail doubles up on the inside too.

Also the amount of overlap on the ares belt depends on how you size it. You can get it down to about 2 inches if yiu read the lengths and pick the appropriate size.
Grey Group just got some in if you want to try the ares.
